A receiver circuit is disclosed. The receiver circuit includes a multi-PAM input circuit to receive a multi-PAM input symbol. The input symbol exhibits one of multiple threshold levels during a sampling period. The threshold levels correspond to a set of M-bit two's-complement values within a defined set of threshold values. An adaptive filtering circuit includes a first transcoder to transcode the set of M-bit two's-complement values to a set of N-bit values, where N<M. An adaptive filter operates to filter the set of N-bit values to generate a filtered set of data values. A second transcoder transforms the filtered set of data values to a second set of data values that corresponds to a set of filtered M-bit two's-complement values.

DIGITAL EQUALIZER WITH OVERLAPPABLE FILTER TAPS

In one illustrative embodiment, an equalizer includes: a shift register, an array of multipliers, an array of multiplexers, and a summer. The shift register provides receive signal samples at each tap. Each multiplier in the array multiplies one of said receive signal samples by a respective coefficient to produce a product, with at least one of said multipliers coupled to a fixed tap. Each multiplexer in the array supplies an associated one of said multipliers with a receive signal sample from a selectable tap. The summer sums the products to produce a filtered output signal. To reduce hardware requirements, coefficient multipliers may be multiplexed to a reduced set of taps, and the dynamic range of the coefficients may be increased by overlapping the sets for different multipliers. Methods of tap selection and coefficient adaptation are disclosed.

Synchronized Switching of Wireless Platforms

Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for synchronizing the switching of different wireless platforms to different portions of a frequency band. An embodiment, at a first wireless platform, operates by receiving a band switch request message from a second wireless platform, wherein the band switch request message comprises a band switch delay period for the second wireless platform. The embodiment calculates a band switch time based on a band switch delay period for the first wireless platform and the band switch delay period for the second wireless platform. The embodiment transmits a band switch accept message comprising the band switch time to the second wireless platform. The embodiment sets a first filter to operate on a second portion of the frequency band based on the band switch time. The embodiment then operates on the second portion of the frequency band.

SUBSPACE-CONSTRAINED PARTIAL UPDATE METHODS FOR REDUCED-COMPLEXITY SIGNAL ESTIMATION, PARAMETER ESTIMATION, OR DATA DIMENSIONALITY REDUCTION
20210141855 · 2021-05-13 ·

An adaptive processor implements partial updates when it adjusts weights to optimize adaptation criteria in signal estimation, parameter estimation, or data dimensionality reduction algorithms. The adaptive processor designates some of the weights to be update weights and the other weights to be held weights. Unconstrained updates are performed on the update weights, whereas updates to the set of held weights are performed within a reduced-dimensionality subspace. Updates to the held weights and the update weights employ adapt-path operations for tuning the adaptive processor to process signal data during or after tuning.
