Wireless quiet enrolment

In a wireless media network a source device provides entertainment content to a sink device over a radio frequency (RF) wireless channel. The source device can go into a receive only quiet enrolment mode until activated by a sink device transmitting enrolment trigger packets or having a signal strength above a certain threshold, thereby improving coexistence with other wireless devices. The source device changes from the quiet enrolment mode to an active enrolment mode when activated by the sink device.

Auto-tunable antenna devices

Auto-tunable antenna devices and methods of using the same are described herein. One method for tuning an antenna of a device includes comparing a reference phase of a reference signal to a return phase of a return signal of the antenna and sending a correction signal to a tunable circuit element of the antenna in response to the reference phase being out of phase with the return phase.

Multi-mode media device operable in first and second modes, selectively

A multi-mode media system operable at a given time in one of a first or a second mode, selectively, the first mode comprising operation to access a media source co-housed with or connected to and operationally integrated with the media system and configured to stream media content to the multi-mode media system for playing by the media system, and the second mode comprising operation of the media system for controlling over a network a media source remote from the multi-mode media system for outputting media content on an output device separate from the multi-mode media system, the media system not being operable in both modes simultaneously nor operable exclusively only in a single one of such modes.

Hybrid electro-mechanical tuner

A hybrid electro-mechanical tuner uses a modified version of the forward injection technique, also called Gamma Boosting Unit (GBU), integrated with a passive slide screw impedance tuner in the same slabline and housing. The modified GBU samples a phase-and-amplitude adjustable portion of the forward travelling signal at the fundamental frequency, amplifies it and injects it back, in reverse direction, into the main signal path through a circulator connected at the idle port of the tuner, after the mechanical tuning probe. The horizontal and vertical control of the forward coupler (wave-probe) of the modified GBU which is attached to the vertical axis in a mobile carriage, is manual or remote and eliminates the need for a dedicated phase shifter and attenuator, making the solution better, simpler and more effective.

A remote controller of an image processing apparatus includes: a touch screen which displays an input menu; a menu processor which processes the touch screen to display respective input menus corresponding to at least two modes among a control mode of the image processing apparatus, a character input mode and a handwriting mode; and a controller which controls the menu processor to display the input menu of the mode corresponding to a selection signal when the selection signal for the mode is received.

VARIABLE BLANKING FREQUENCY FOR RESONANT CONVERTERS

A power supply includes a transistor that is connected to a primary winding of a transformer. A controller controls a switching operation of the transistor by quasi-resonant switching. The controller receives a feedback voltage and adjusts the feedback voltage to adjust a blanking frequency, which is an inverse of a blanking time during which the transistor is prevented from being turned on. The controller turns on the transistor after expiration of the blanking time based on a level of a resonant ring.

An electronic power converter is configured to receive power from a power source. The power operates at a switching frequency. The electronic power converter includes a resonant tank circuit operatively connected to the power converter. The resonant tank circuit operates at a tank resonant frequency. The electronic power converter includes a controller operatively connected to the resonant tank circuit. The electronic power converter further includes a variable inductor operatively connected to the resonant tank circuit. The variable inductor is configured to modify the tank resonant frequency to match the switching frequency within a predetermined margin.

Radio frequency signal synthesizer circuit and method for generating a radio frequency signal

A radio frequency signal synthesizer circuit includes a digital to analog converter configured to generate an analog output signal for each clock cycle of a clock signal to provide the radio frequency signal and a controlled oscillator to generate the clock signal. The controlled oscillator is configured to vary a cycle time of the clock signal for a radio frequency signal in a first frequency range in a first operation mode or to maintain a constant cycle time for a radio frequency signal in a second frequency range in a second operation mode, the second frequency range being different than the first frequency range.

Dominant signal detection method and apparatus

A single complex calculation for locating a dominant frequency, such as an interfering signal in a frequency range, is replaced by several much easier ones. A signal is analyzed over a first frequency range to locate at least one comparatively significant frequency component therein. This can involve analyzing, using electronic hardware, a test range of frequencies to identify a potentially significant component within the test range; and determining, using electronic hardware, if a condition for finishing the analysis has been met. If the condition has not been met, the test range is modified as a result of the analysis and the operations of analyzing and determining are repeated.
