Patient support apparatuses with dynamic control panels
A patient support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, recliner, operating table, stretcher, or the like, includes a control panel with multiple controls for controlling functions of the patient support apparatus. A control system disables at least a first control and changes an illumination state of a backlight when the patient support apparatus is in a particular state. In some embodiments, the particular state is the arming of an exit detection system and/or the deactivation of a brake on the patient support apparatus. The particular state may also or alternatively be tied to a particular mode of the patient support apparatus, such as a diagnostic mode, a maintenance mode, and/or a normal mode. The control system may also never illuminate a first icon on the patient support apparatus if it was initially configured in a particular manner, such as being intended for sale in a particular geographic market.
Transport apparatus
A first transport apparatus includes a deck for supporting a patient thereon and a lift mechanism supporting the deck. The deck is removable from the lift mechanism for use as a second transport apparatus or part of a second transport apparatus. The first transport apparatus further includes an electrically powered device at the first transport apparatus, and a user input device for wireless control of the electrically powered device, which is operable at or near the first transport apparatus and the second transport apparatus.
Mobile carrier and steering adjustment mechanism
A mobile carrier includes a first frame, a directional wheel pivoted to the first frame, a second frame pivoted to the first frame, a steering adjustment mechanism connected to the second frame, and a steering wheel. The steering adjustment mechanism includes a first rotating element and a second rotating element coupled to the first rotating element. When a first rotating axis of the first rotating element is perpendicular to a plane, the first and the second rotating elements are locked to each other and are capable of rotating around the first rotating axis simultaneously. When a second rotating axis of the second rotating element is perpendicular to the plane, rotational degree of freedom of the first rotating element is restricted, and the second rotating element is capable of rotating around the second rotating axis relative to the first rotating element. A steering adjustment mechanism is also provided.
Toilet chair and a method for aiding a person in getting undressed or dressed by means of a toilet chair
Disclosed is a toilet chair (1) comprising a chair back (2) including a head part (3) and a bottom part (4) and a seat (5) comprising a front part (6) and a rear part (8), wherein the seat (5) further comprises a toilet opening (7) through which a user may go to the toilet. The bottom part (4) and the rear part (8) are arranged next to each other and the bottom part (4) is arranged to be displaceable outwards in a direction towards the front of the chair (1) and the rear part (8) is arranged to be displaceable upwards in a direction towards the front of the chair (1). Methods for aiding a person in getting undressed or dressed by means of a toilet chair (1) and use of a toilet chair (1) is also disclosed.
PERSON SUPPORT APPARATUS WITH SHEAR-REDUCING PIVOT ASSEMBLY
A person support apparatus includes a support surface for supporting a person thereon. The support surface includes at least a seat and a backrest coupled together by a pivot assembly. In some embodiments, the pivot assembly includes a backrest slide bar mounted to the backrest and a seat slide bar mounted to the seat. The backrest and seat slide along their respective slide bars when the backrest pivots. A seat link is coupled to the seat and backrest slide bar, and a backrest link is coupled to the backrest and seat slide bar. The slide bars are coupled at their ends to each other. The pivot assembly creates a virtual pivot axis that, as the backrest pivots from an upright position to a reclined position, moves backward and upwardly. Elongate openings may be defined in the slide bars to support the slide bars on the seat and backrest, respectively.
PEINDIVIDUALLY-CONTOURED SEAT CUSHION, SHAPE CAPTURING, AND FABRICATING METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SEAT CUSHION
The present invention discloses a method and a system of computer-assisted assessment of seat cushion design. The method includes capturing a first set of data and a second set of data from a surface of a seat cushion through a sensor module. Further, the method includes designing a three-dimensional seat cushion for the user based on the first set of data and the second set of data. The first set of data includes heat graphs related to seating posture of the user and position of tailbone of the user in the seating posture. Further, the second set of data includes body weight of the user in the seating position.
Medical support apparatus
A medical chair includes a base, a seat, and a leg rest pivotally mounted relative to the seat and adapted to move between an extended position and a retracted position. The chair further includes a first actuator for tilting the seat with respect to the base, a second actuator for lifting the seat with respect to the base, and a leg rest actuator adapted to move the leg rest. The chair also includes a controller adapted to control the first and second actuators to move the seat between a first position and a second position such that the seat is both lifted and tilted at the same time as the seat moves from the first position to the second position, and wherein the controller is adapted to control the leg rest actuator such that the leg rest maintains a substantially constant orientation with respect to the floor.

Modular wheelchair system
A convertible transport system including a seat portion, a back support portion, and a pivoting mechanism coupled to the seat portion and to the back support portion. The pivoting mechanism is configured to adjust and lock the back support portion relative to the seat portion, the pivoting mechanism having three operative states: a free pivoting state allowing the back support portion to pivot relative to the seat portion about an axis; a ratcheting state allowing the back support portion to only pivot toward the seat portion about the axis; and a locking state in which the pivoting mechanism is locked to thereby prevent a pivoting movement of the back support portion relative to the seat portion.
POWERED SEAT FOR CHAIRS
The present invention provides powered seats for chairs such as recliners or lift chairs that can move a seated user either forward or back in the chair. The invention is particularly useful for individuals lacking sufficient strength or mobility to move from the front of a chair seat to the back of the chair seat, or alternatively from the back of the chair to the front of the chair, without the assistance of one or more persons. The invention also allows a user to adjust their position in a chair to any spot between the front and back of the chair's seat as desired.
