In a method for configuring a Software Defined Radio (SDR) capable user equipment, the SDR capable user equipment wirelessly loads an SDR program from a radio access network. The SDR capable user equipment executes the loaded SDR program, the SDR program on execution configuring the SDR capable user equipment to support a desired wireless communication technology. The SDR capable user equipment loads the SDR program using a dedicated SDR configuration channel, the dedicated SDR configuration channel being disjoint with any communication channel defined by the desired wireless communication technology. The SDR capable user equipment scans a predetermined frequency spectrum searching a broadcasted beacon. The SDR capable user equipment receives the broadcasted beacon and tunes to the dedicated SDR configuration channel or a subchannel thereof pointed to by a pointer for loading the SDR program.

The present invention provides a radio frequency circuit and an electronic device. The radio frequency circuit includes a radio frequency transceiver having a first transmit port, a first radio frequency module connected to a first antenna array, a second radio frequency module connected to a second antenna array, and a first switch. A first input terminal of the first switch is connected to the first transmit port, and two output terminals of the first switch are respectively connected to the two radio frequency modules. In a case that the first switch is in a first state, the first transmit port is conductively connected to the first radio frequency module; or in a case that the first switch is in a second state, the first transmit port is conductively connected to the second radio frequency module.

Duplexer with impedance inverters

A duplexer may be used to isolate a transmitter and a receiver that share a common antenna. By using impedance gradients to provide impedances that cause balance-unbalance transformers (balun) of the duplexer to cut-off access to the common antenna rather than duplicate the antenna impedance, the duplexer is balanced. Such cut-offs may have a lower insertion loss than a duplexer that merely duplicates the antenna impedance to separate the differential signals of the receiver and transmitter from the common mode signal.

Radio frequency generator with automatic level control

A radio frequency (RF) generator incorporates an automatic level control (ALC) circuit to control the output level of the RF signal where the ALC circuit implements synchronized ADC sampling, pulse sample indexing, gated accumulation to enable fast ALC loop control, especially for pulse-modulated RF signals. In other embodiments, the ALC circuit implements multi-level control for multi-level RF signals. In this manner, the RF generator uses the ALC circuit to generate an RF signal having a constant power level for RF signals having any pulse shape or output levels. In other embodiments, a clock generation circuit in an impedance matching network synchronizes a slave clock to a clock signal of the RF signal when the load impedance is resistive only or when the clock signal of the RF signal has a given phase condition.

A communications network may include user equipment (UE) devices. When a first UE device becomes off-grid and has an emergency message, the first UE device may transmit device-to-device signals for receipt by a second UE device. The signals may include one or more preambles that precede the emergency message and that are used by the second UE device to perform synchronization with the first UE device. The second UE device may periodically activate a receiver during a series of windows to listen for the signals, may receive a preamble sequence during one of the windows, and may synchronize its timing to the first UE device for receipt of the emergency message based on the preamble sequence. This may allow the UE devices to be synchronized for transfer of the emergency message over long distances while consuming a minimal amount of power on the second UE device.
