Reach-through Window Allowing Safe Touch Without Direct Contact
20210347064 · 2021-11-11 ·

A reach-through visitation window designed to offer solutions to the deficiencies of traditional window visits by providing safe touch without direct contact for those meeting with visitors while in medical quarantine. The visitation window can include HEPA filter hearing panels to provide safe transmission of sound for natural, mask-free conversation without the need for electronics. Medical grade protective sleeves attached to the reach-through ports accommodate disposable gloves to ensure complete isolation between the resident and the visitor. The easily removable reach-through window fits into the screen track of the existing facility window system once the screen is removed and is secured in the same manner as the screen thus requiring no facility modifications. In most cases the reach-through visitation window can be left in place while the primary window is lowered and locked to secure the facility, or it can be easily removed until the next scheduled visit.

A disposable, isolating intubation device is described, the device comprising a flexible, spherical compartment inflatable from a collapsible state, the flexible, spherical compartment being substantially transparent and having a closed end and an open end distal from the closed end defining an inside volume for receiving a head, shoulders and a portion of a torso of a patient and methods of using.

Multiple control interface for medical ventilator

Examples described herein include multiple control systems for medical devices, such as medical ventilators. Examples of multiple control of a medical ventilator in an isolation room are described.

PATHOGEN CONTAINMENT DEVICE
20210338361 · 2021-11-04 ·

The present invention provides a safer way to intubate patients having communicable diseases, such as bacterial and viral infections. It protects health care professionals performing the intubation from bodily fluids of the patients that might otherwise be projected directly onto them by coughing, gagging, vomiting, or sneezing. Additionally, it traps airborne suspensions or aerosols containing pathogens, such as bacterial, myco-bacterial, viral, or fungal infections, originating from the patient and keeps them from entering into the air in close proximity to the healthcare professionals. The contaminated air can then be vented to a location which is away from personnel, such as an outdoor containment area. In one embodiment of this invention the contaminated air is passed through a disinfecting solution which destroys the pathogens before the air is recycled into the environment, such as the room where the intubation is carried out.

PORTABLE SYSTEM FOR PREVENTION OF PATHOGEN TRANSMISSION

The invention discloses a system for protecting healthcare workers from exposure to pathogens while attending to a patient in respiratory distress that requires procedures such as intubation and subsequent placement of a patient on a ventilator. The system comprises a transparent and flexible drape, covering the facial area of the patient with openings situated cranially above the patient, fitted with sleeves/cuffs to which gloves are optionally sealed to the cuffs. The drape is supported above the patient with one or more supporting members, which are secured to the patient's bed. The perimeter of the drape is optionally fitted with a plurality of weights such that when the drape is placed over the supporting member it forms an impervious barrier against pathogens between the patient and the healthcare workers. The system is lightweight and can remain attached to the patient's bed should the patient require movement to a different location.

ISOLATION APPARATUS

An isolation apparatus for the transport of a patient who is potentially infectious, who has been subjected to chemical or biological agents, such as SARS-CoV-2, or who is threatened by chemical/biological attack. The invention comprises a transparent or semi-transparent, generally tubular enclosure, having two opposite ends. Secured to each of the two opposite ends of this transparent or semi-transparent, tubular enclosure are a pair of end walls. Pass-through ports are provided to allow for introducing items, such as medicine, water, or medical tools, into the patient chamber without opening the apparatus.

The present invention relates to a covering 10 for a body part of a patient. The covering 10 comprising a plurality of transparent semi rigid sheet segments 14, a fastener 20 for connecting the plurality of sheet segments 14 together such that the sheet segments 14 support each other to form a self-supporting structure 12. The self-supporting structure 12 being suitable for covering the body part of a patient, thereby protecting medical professionals from harmful fluids or aerosols emanating from the patient.

SHIELDED CHAMBER FOR DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION OF MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Disclosed herein is a shielded chamber system for diagnostic evaluation of a condition of an individual. The shielded chamber system comprises an enclosure comprising a plurality of walls, a wall comprising a plurality of layers of magnetic shielding material. The shielded chamber system also comprises one or more application-specific modular components configured to be inserted within the enclosure, wherein an application-specific modular component comprises an array of biomagnetic field sensors configured to sense an electromagnetic field associated with the individual and generate electromagnetic field data therefrom. Finally, the shielded chamber system comprises one or more holes or passthroughs inserted into at least one wall of the plurality of walls, wherein a hole or passthrough is configured for passing electrical or data cabling into and out of the enclosure.
