HIGH DOPPLER CHANNEL PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT
A base station may determine a Doppler metric associated with a wireless channel and a user equipment (UE). The Doppler metric may be determined from received information related to Doppler effects measured by the UE or from directly measured Doppler effects associated with uplink data received from the UE. Based on the determined Doppler metric, the base station may select one or both of a reference signal (RS) density and a channel estimation technique for the wireless channel and associated UE. The base station may transmit an indication of the RS density to the UE. Downlink data bursts and uplink data bursts may include RSs and data according to the indicated RS density. Further, the base station may transmit to the UE, an indication to communicate using the selected wireless channel estimation technique.
Dynamic Frame Structure for an Enhanced Cellular Network
A base station is disclosed that may communicate with a wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) using a dynamic frame structure. The base station may transmit control information on a control channel that dynamically specifies a first transmit time interval between control channel transmissions. The duration of the first transmit time interval may be determined based at least in part on a type of service executing on the UE, wherein the type of service may comprise one of machine type communications (MTC), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), and critical machine applications.

A method for estimating a channel transmitted through a 2-dimensional (2D) array antenna by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system comprising calculating channel estimation values for each of horizontal and vertical direction antenna arrays of the 2D array antenna in a channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) resource using a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based channel estimation scheme, wherein the channel estimation values are expressed as one or more non-zero channel taps due to multipath fading; deriving channel vectors for each of the horizontal direction antenna arrays and channel vectors for each of the vertical direction antenna arrays using L significant power sums of filtered channel taps; and calculating channel vectors of the 2D array antenna by operating Kronecker product of the channel vectors for each of the horizontal direction antenna arrays and the channel vectors for each of the vertical direction antenna arrays.
