Personal monitoring using a remote timer
Method and apparatus for monitoring the status and location of personnel using a remote timer. In some embodiments, a method includes logging in, through a network accessible device, a geo position of a subject to initiate a monitored session associated with the subject. A countdown timer of a remote server is initiated to denote a monitored time interval, the remote server in communication with the network accessible device over a network. A notification is generated and transmitted across the network to a monitoring device responsive to a conclusion of the monitored time interval.
Method and apparatus for a power-efficient framework to maintain data synchronization of a mobile personal computer to simulate a connected scenario
An apparatus and method for a power-efficient framework to maintain data synchronization of a mobile personal computer (MPC) are described. In one embodiment, the method includes the detection of a data synchronization wakeup event while the MPC is operating according to a sleep state. Subsequent to wakeup event, at least one system resource is disabled to provide a minimum number of system resources required to re-establish a network connection. In one embodiment, user data from a network server is synchronized on the MPC without user intervention; the mobile platform system resumes operation according to the sleep state. In one embodiment, a wakeup alarm is programmed according to a user history profile regarding received e-mails. In a further embodiment, data synchronizing involves disabling a display, and throttling the system processor to operate at a reduced frequency. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Methods, systems and apparatus for selectively distributing urgent public information
Embodiments of the invention provide apparatuses, systems and methods for distributing public information. For example, some embodiments of the invention provide methods for determining an appropriate set of addresses to which to distribute an alert. One such exemplary method comprises maintaining a directory of alert gateways. The directory can comprise a plurality of directory entries, and each directory entry can be associated with a particular alert gateway. Each directory entry can also comprise at least one gateway characteristic associated with that alert gateway. In some cases, a gateway characteristic can include information to enable the alert distribution device to determine whether a given alert should be transmitted to the alert gateway.
Viral engine for network deployment
A private network system operates over a public network to provide an asymmetric service to members with information from other members and non-members. The system includes central servers and databases connected via the public network to client systems of public network users. The users may be members who communicate with a private protocol or non-members who communicate with the public protocol. A process for the private service includes communication of information between users via the private service servers. The private service server implements the private service, which includes a viral engine for network deployment. Features of the viral engine include genetic algorithms, data mining, personalization, frictionless service setup, user maximization, and member-controlled privacy. A sample setup process and contact update wizard that include several viral engine features are described.
Method and system for centralized contact management
Disclosed is a method and system for managing contacts for a communication system by storing contact information in a centralized storage system and permitting receiving users to access the centralized contact information storage system using a token passed with communications from a sending user. The communications system may be a trusted network with trusted sending and receiving members. Each communications system member provides contact information the member may wish to make available to other parties. The member may also create a policy defining which contact information may be made available to different classes of users. A member of the communications system generates a message to send to a receiving user. A token that identifies the sending user to the communications system is embedded into the message to be sent to the receiving user. The receiving user, after identifying the message as a message containing a token, may request contact information for the sending user from the communications system using the token identifying the sending user to the communication system. The communication system delivers a subset of the sending user's contact information to the receiving user based on the sending user's contact information and policy definitions stored in the centralized contact information storage system of the communication systems. The system and method are especially adaptable to e-mail communications, but other forms of electronic communications may also be included in an embodiment, either solely or in combination.
System and method for determining conversion rate for short message service (SMS) messaging
A method for detecting SMS messaging service interruptions by classifying SMS messages as delivered or undelivered based upon the receipt of a successful conversion message within a predetermined time period. A current conversion rate is calculated for each network operator partner and destination network pair and the current conversion rate is compared against a reference conversion rate to identify a decrease in the conversion rate of the SMS messages. If the conversion rate decrease exceeds a predefined value, the channel between the network operator partner and the destination network pair is flagged and subsequent SMS messages are routed to end users via an alternative destination network.
Electronic Messaging System for Mobile Devices with Reduced Traceability of Electronic Messages
An electronic messaging system and method with reduced traceability by separation of display of media component of message content and header information. An electronic message having an identifier of a recipient and a message content including an image media component is received at a server from a sending user device at which a display for associating the media component with the electronic message is provided without displaying the identifier of a recipient with the media component such that a single screen capture of the identifier of a recipient and the media component is prevented. The electronic message including an identifier of a sending user is transmitted to a recipient user device at which a display presenting the media component is provided without displaying the identifier of a sending user such that a single screen capture of both the identifier of a sending user and the media component is prevented.
INTER-VEHICLE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, VEHICLE SYSTEM, VEHICLE ILLUMINATION SYSTEM AND VEHICLE
An inter-vehicle communication system includes: a first vehicle including a message generator configured to generate a message and a first wireless communication unit configured to wirelessly transmit the generated message; a second vehicle including a second wireless communication unit configured to receive the message transmitted from the first vehicle; and a display device that is located in the second vehicle and is configured to display the message.
EMAIL NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
Examples described herein include systems and methods for providing push notifications to a third-party application executing on a client device. An example can include encrypting user credentials, generating a callback Uniform Resource Locator (URL) with at least a portion of the encrypted credentials embedded into the URL, and requesting notifications from an email service to be provided at the callback URL. Upon receiving a notification at the callback URL, a system component can decrypt the credentials within the URL using a private key and log into the email account using those decrypted credentials. The system component can then generate a push notification based on any changes found in the email account and cause the notification to be delivered to the third-party application on the client device.
Secure electronic mail system
An e-mail system is disclosed that overcomes many deficiencies of, but is backward compatible with, existing e-mail systems. Embodiments of the system may include various features, including but not limited to: (1) secure transfer of e-mail messages, without the need for users to replace existing e-mail clients or to change e-mail addresses; (2) tracking of all actions performed in connection with an e-mail transmission; (3) the ability for a recipient to view information about an e-mail message, optionally including information about how other addressees have responded to it, before deciding whether to retrieve the e-mail message; (4) the aggregation of entire e-mail conversations into a single threaded view; (5) the ability to include both private and public messages in a single e-mail communication; (6) sender control over downstream actions performed in connection with an e-mail message; (7) flexible control over cryptographic methods used to encrypt emails messages for storage.
