A device may receive one or more preferences for providing a message-based data service. The device may receive, in a text message and from a mobile device, a content request. The content request may identify content to be obtained via a data connection. The device may filter the content request, based on the one or more preferences, to generate a filtered request. The device may obtain the content based on the filtered request and via a data connection. The device may process the content to prepare the content for providing in a text message. The device may provide the content to the mobile device in a text message after processing the content.

Systems and methods are provided for deleting messages. The systems and methods include operations for: establishing, by a computing device, a communication session between a plurality of users, the communication session being associated with a first feature of a plurality of features of a messaging application; automatically deleting a first set of messages exchanged in the communication session based on a default deletion policy of the first feature; changing the default deletion policy of the first feature to a second deletion policy; and automatically deleting a second set of messages exchanged in the communication session based on the second deletion policy instead of the default deletion policy.

An inquiry for information recommendation sent by a terminal is received; the inquiry for information recommendation may include an account identification of a target communication account; it is determined whether account information corresponding to the account identification of the target communication account includes a pre-set keyword to disable recommendation; if the account information includes the pre-set keyword to disable recommendation, a notification to disable recommendation is sent to the terminal, such that the terminal disables, while communication information is being input in a communication window corresponding to the target communication account, a pop-up of recommended information corresponding to the input communication information in the communication window, improving efficiency in information acquisition.

A method for delivering messages performed at a server includes: generating a group-sending interface invocation request, and sending the group-sending interface invocation request to an open platform server, where the group-sending interface invocation request carries a to-be-sent message and at least one group identifier, a follower group corresponding to each group identifier includes a user account of at least one follower of a target user account, the target user account is a user account that a service provider applies for to the social networking application, the group-sending interface invocation request is used to invoke a message group-sending interface provided by the open platform server, and the message group-sending interface is configured to send a message to a client terminal corresponding to a user account in a follower group corresponding to each of the at least one group identifier.

A method and system for remotely removing metadata from electronic documents includes receiving an electronic document from an electronic device, determining that the electronic document includes a pre-determined type of metadata, and generating a request for confirmation that at least a portion of the pre-determined type of metadata should be removed. Based on the confirmation, at least a portion of the pre-determined type of metadata is removed from the electronic document before it is transmitted.

Perception of multiple online personas is enabled in an instant messaging communications session. At least two identities within a communications environment to whom messages may be directed are identified. A first persona of a user is enabled to be projected to a first of the identities while a second persona of the same user is enabled to be concurrently projected to a second of the identities. The first and second personas each include an avatar capable of being animated, and the first persona and the second persona differ.

A method may include receiving, by a computing device associated with a user, a message from an origination source and receiving, by the computing device, an audio input. The method may also include determining, by the computing device and based at least in part on the audio input and contextual information, a probability that the user intends to send a response message to the origination source. The method may further include, responsive to determining that the probability the user intends to send the response message to the origination source satisfies a threshold probability, determining, by the computing device, that the user intends to send the response message to the origination source. The present invention discloses a real-time and time-distributed information recommendation system, method and apparatus. Specifically, when first clients of the information recommendation system running on first terminal devices access and operate on pieces of information, influence values of the pieces of information on friend clients of the first clients are calculated, accumulated and recorded in a database based on fried intimacy and types of the operations at the times the pieces of information are accessed and operated on. As such, the influence values of the pieces of information on friend clients are updated over time and in real-time. The speed and efficiency of processes for recommending information to the friend clients, when requested, are thus improved.

Some examples enable profile-based management of multiple communication channels and associated communication services on an electronic device. For example, role-based profiles may be used to manage and filter communications from various contacts. A profile may be set on the electronic device, such as in response to a user input, or automatically based on a determined context of the electronic device. For instance, the context may be determined from one or more of a physical location of the electronic device, a time of day, a day of the week, or a detected activity of the user. Further, some examples include a unified communication interface that may enable a user to select a contact to receive a communication, and the electronic device may select a communication channel for communicating with the selected contact based at least in part on the profile currently set for the electronic device.
