MULTIPLE AVATAR PERSONALITIES

Perception of multiple online personas is enabled in an instant messaging communications session. At least two identities within a communications environment to whom messages may be directed are identified. A first persona of a user is enabled to be projected to a first of the identities while a second persona of the same user is enabled to be concurrently projected to a second of the identities. The first and second personas each include an avatar capable of being animated, and the first persona and the second persona differ.

Secure Electronic Mail System
20180054414 · 2018-02-22 ·

An e-mail system is disclosed that overcomes many deficiencies of, but is backward compatible with, existing e-mail systems. Embodiments of the system may include various features, including but not limited to: (1) secure transfer of e-mail messages, without the need for users to replace existing e-mail clients or to change e-mail addresses; (2) tracking of all actions performed in connection with an e-mail transmission; (3) the ability for a recipient to view information about an e-mail message, optionally including information about how other addressees have responded to it, before deciding whether to retrieve the e-mail message; (4) the aggregation of entire e-mail conversations into a single threaded view; (5) the ability to include both private and public messages in a single e-mail communication; (6) sender control over downstream actions performed in connection with an e-mail message; (7) flexible control over cryptographic methods used to encrypt emails messages for storage.

COMMUNICATION CHANNEL SELECTION AND USAGE

Performing electronic communication between a plurality of devices can include determining, using a processor, a required answer time for an electronic message, determining, using the processor, a plurality of expected response times, wherein each expected response time is specific to a recipient of the electronic message and is specific to one of a plurality of different communication channels, and matching, using the processor, the required answer time to an expected response time. Using the processor, a communication channel can be selected from the plurality of different communication channels based upon the matching. Sending of the electronic message to a device of the recipient can be initiated using the selected communication channel.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR REMOTELY REMOVING METADATA FROM ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTS
20180054441 · 2018-02-22 · ·

A method and system for removing metadata from email attachments sent from mobile devices includes receiving an email with an attached document. The attached document has metadata removed to create a cleansed version of the attached document. The attached document is replaced by the cleansed version of the attached document, and the email is sent according to the address or addresses included in the email.

Maintaining up-to-date home automation models

Embodiments detailed herein may involve a first status update of a home automation device installed as part of a home automation system in a home being received. An entry of a plurality of entries in a master home automation model may be updated based on the first status update of the home automation device. The master home automation model may be maintained by the home automation host system. The plurality of entries may correspond to home automation device characteristics of the plurality of home automation devices. A numerical identifier used to track status updates related to the home automation system in the home may be incremented. Within the master home automation model, the incremented numerical identifier may be assigned to the updated entry in the master home automation model.

CONTEXTUALLY DRIVEN MESSAGING SYSTEM

A method may include receiving, by a computing device associated with a user, a message from an origination source and receiving, by the computing device, an audio input. The method may also include determining, by the computing device and based at least in part on the audio input and contextual information, a probability that the user intends to send a response message to the origination source. The method may further include, responsive to determining that the probability the user intends to send the response message to the origination source satisfies a threshold probability, determining, by the computing device, that the user intends to send the response message to the origination source. The method may also include, responsive to determining that the user intends to send the response message to the origination source, generating, by the computing device and based on the audio input, the response message, and sending, by the computing device, the response message to the origination source.

NOTIFICATION OF POTENTIALLY PROBLEMATIC TEXTUAL MESSAGES

A processor may determine, using natural language processing, a writing style of content of a composed message written by a composer. The processor may analyze, using natural language processing, a set of previous message written by the composer. The processor may identify, based on the analyzing, writing habits of the composer. The processor may also identify a difference between the writing style of the content and the writing habits of the composer. The processor may display a notification of the difference to the user.

Asynchronous data protocol

A method of asynchronously transferring a plurality of files between client and host devices is provided. The method includes transmitting to a client device a plurality of identifiers for files and transferring between the host and client devices a data frame that includes an identifier and at least a portion of the corresponding file. Each identifier corresponds to a different one of the files to be transferred. The method also includes repeating the data frame transfers until the plurality of files has been transferred.

Network-based content discovery using messages of a messaging platform

A system, method, and computer-readable medium for identifying relevant content from a messaging platform. The method can include: identifying a context account; identifying a set of initial accounts of the messaging platform; selecting a set of relevant accounts from among the set of initial accounts; selecting a set of messages authored by the set of relevant accounts based at least on a recency of each of the set of messages; and providing the set of messages in response to a request.

Method for forwarding data packets in a network and programmable ingress and egress nodes therefore
09894000 · 2018-02-13 · ·

The method for forwarding a data packet in a network generally has the steps of: forming at least two transit data packets including replicating at least payload data, sequence data and destination data of the data packet; and forwarding the at least two transit data packets along different network paths. The different network paths can lead to an egress node based on the destination data. At the egress node, the received data packets can be compared to stored data to determine whether the transit data packets having the same sequence data have both been received. The received data packets can then be transmitted to the data destination only when it is determined that they are the first one of the pair of transit data packets to be received.
