Systems and methods for automating client-side synchronization and discovery of public keys and certificates of external contacts include a key synchronizer at a client device. The key synchronizer obtains, from the client device, an external contact associated with an external domain outside of a local domain of the client device and then identifies, based on the external domain, a public key registry outside of the local domain. The key synchronizer obtains, from the public key registry, a registry-supplied public key or digital certificate for the external contact and then stores the registry-supplied key as a locally-stored key in the local key store such that the client device can obtain and apply the locally-stored key to secure an email targeting the external contact as a recipient of the email.

An e-mail system is disclosed that overcomes many deficiencies of, but is backward compatible with, existing e-mail systems. Embodiments of the system may include various features, including but not limited to: (1) secure transfer of e-mail messages, without the need for users to replace existing e-mail clients or to change e-mail addresses; (2) tracking of all actions performed in connection with an e-mail transmission; (3) the ability for a recipient to view information about an e-mail message, optionally including information about how other addressees have responded to it, before deciding whether to retrieve the e-mail message; (4) the aggregation of entire e-mail conversations into a single threaded view; (5) the ability to include both private and public messages in a single e-mail communication; (6) sender control over downstream actions performed in connection with an e-mail message; (7) flexible control over cryptographic methods used to encrypt emails messages for storage.

A mechanism is described for dynamically facilitating tracking of targets and generating and communicating of messages at computing devices according to one embodiment. An apparatus of embodiments, as described herein, includes one or more capturing/sensing components to facilitate seeking of the apparatus, where the apparatus is associated with a user, and recognition/transformation logic to recognize the apparatus. The apparatus may further include command and data analysis logic to analyze a command received at the apparatus from the user, where the command indicates sending a message to the apparatus. The apparatus may further include message generation and preparation logic to generate the message based on the analysis of the command, and communication/compatibility logic to communicate the message.

Method and apparatus for monitoring the status and location of personnel using a remote timer. In some embodiments, a method includes execution of a subject application (app) on a network accessible device. A countdown timer of a remote server is initiated to monitor a time interval, the remote server communicating with the network accessible device over a network. Geo positions of the network accessible device are monitored during the monitored time interval. The remote server sends a notification to a monitoring device responsive to at least one of the following events: the monitored time interval ends without the remote server receiving an authorized personal identification (PID) value; or the remote server receives an unauthorized PID value prior to the conclusion of the monitored time interval. In further embodiments, a notification is sent based on an out-of-bounds geo position of the network accessible device during the time interval.

Techniques are described for managing, drafts of an electronic document (e.g., an electronic note, an electronic message, an electronic calendar invitation, and/or other types of electronic documents) between client devices. Such an electronic document can be composed using different clients, such that composing the document can be continued using different clients. A draft of an electronic document can be stored by clients and/or the message management service as a metadata. A message management service can be implemented as an intermediary computing system to manage a current version of a draft in local storage when a draft is composed using a client device. The message management service can manage version information of a draft that is exists, if any, on each of the client devices. The message management service can synchronize a draft of the message with client devices when a draft is composed using a client device.

An apparatus and a method for providing a messenger service in an electronic device are provided. In the method, the messenger service with at least one counterpart electronic device is provided. First application setting information is determined during the messenger service. The first application setting information is transmitted to the at least one counterpart electronic device through the messenger service.

Techniques for protecting mailboxes in computer-implemented conferencing systems are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method includes caching availability data representing availability information of meeting participants in a mailbox corresponding to a meeting organizer. The method also includes monitoring a mailbox size of the mailbox corresponding to the meeting organizer and determining whether the monitored mailbox size exceeds a preset threshold. The method further includes in response to determining that the monitored mailbox size exceeds the preset threshold, ceasing to cache additional availability data representing new availability information of the meeting participants received at the mailbox in order to prevent performance degradation of accessing the mailbox by the meeting organizer via the computer network.

An apparatus and mechanism to subscribe to a single address and or session management service from multiple devices (such as e.g, tablets, smart phones, netbooks or other types of communication terminals or client devices) with a single account and password through the automatic assignment of a dynamic opaque service profile to each device a user uses to sign in to the service. After sign-in transparent call management services are provided to the user and allow the user to control sessions on any signed-in device from any signed-in device without revealing the distinct dynamic opaque service profiles to the user.

An internet-based crowd peer review method employing a user interface in communication through the internet with a peer review application and in which proposed documents are made available to a large group of pre-approved reviewers for simultaneous and rapid peer review and comment. The internet-based crowd peer review method significantly shortens the time for performance and completion of a peer review of a proposed document by imposing, for each proposed document under review, one or more of the following limits or criteria: a maximum time period for accepting reviews of from about 3 days to about 60 days, a minimum quantity of reviewers, a maximum quantity of reviewers, a minimum or maximum quantity of reviewers allowed submit reviewer comments, a maximum time period for accepting revised documents from authors, as well as other factors and criteria set forth herein. One or more of the foregoing limits or criteria may be imposed simultaneously.

Techniques for determining an editable query which, when executed, identifies and presents a set of member profiles similar to a source member profile are described. In an embodiment, a preliminary set of member profiles similar to a source member profile is identified. A set of profile features is obtained from the preliminary set of similar member profiles, and a set of relevant profile features is extracted from the set of profile features. An editable query including the set of relevant profile features is presented. In an embodiment, the set of member profiles similar to the source member profile and corresponding to the set of relevant profile features is also presented. Upon having been edited, the editable query is executable to identify and present a new set of member profiles corresponding to the edited query.
