A system and method for facilitating communication between an assisted user (AU) and a hearing user (HU) includes receiving an HU voice signal as the AU and HU participate in a call using AU and HU communication devices, transcribing HU voice signal segments into verbatim caption segments, processing each verbatim caption segment to identify an intended communication (IC) intended by the HU upon uttering an associated one of the HU voice signal segments, for at least a portion of the HU voice signal segments (i) using an associated IC to generate an enhanced caption different than the associated verbatim caption, (ii) for each of a first subset of the HU voice signal segments, presenting the verbatim captions via the AU communication device display for consumption, and (iii) for each of a second subset of the HU voice signal segments, presenting enhanced captions via the AU communication device display for consumption.

A robot detects, through a sensor, the location and movement direction of a user and an object near the user, sets a nearby ground area in front at the feet of the user according to the detected location and movement direction of the user, controls an illumination device in the robot to irradiate the nearby ground area with light while driving at least one pair of legs or wheels of the robot to cause the robot to accompany the user, specifies the type and the location of the detected object, and if the object is a dangerous object and is located ahead of the user, controls the illumination device to irradiate a danger area including at least a portion of the dangerous object with light in addition to irradiating the nearby ground area with light.

An operating system includes an air conditioner and an infrared output device. The air conditioner includes an indoor unit. The infrared output device is configured to receive first information on an instruction to a first-type apparatus other than the air conditioner and operable by an infrared signal and transmit an infrared signal corresponding to the first information to the first-type apparatus. The air conditioner further includes a management device configured to manage the first-type apparatus. The management device includes a command information receiving unit configured to receive second information on a command content, and a determination unit configured to determine whether there is a deviation between a behavior of the first-type apparatus and the command content, based on the behavior of the first-type apparatus and the second information.

A presence proof system includes a user terminal including a biometric authentication unit, a presence proof request information generation unit, and a data storage unit, a base station including a start time information generation unit, a verification unit, and a presence proof generation unit. The base station transmits, to the user terminal, a start time of presence proof processing, the user terminal transmits, to the base station, an authentication time when the biometric authentication is performed, when the start time, the authentication time, and a verification time in the verification unit are arranged in time series and a difference between the start time and the verification time is within a predetermined range, the base station transmits the presence proof to the user terminal, and the user terminal stores data related to the presence proof received from the base station in a data storage unit.

An automatic inspection system includes a wireless slave device and a wireless master device. The wireless slave device includes a sound collection unit that collects sound generated from an inspection target object, an analysis unit that analyzes the collected sound to obtain a degree of difference between the collected sound and normal sound learned in advance and sound state information of the collected sound, as an analysis result, a wireless communication unit that wirelessly transmits data including the analysis results to a wireless master device, and a power supply unit that supplies power to the sound collection unit, the analysis unit, and the wireless communication unit. The wireless master device is configured to perform processing of receiving and managing the data from the wireless slave device, and transmitting the analysis result extracted from the data to a monitoring terminal that monitors a state of the inspection target object.

Methods and systems are provided for establishing dynamic and secure peer-to-peer communications channels between terminals. A network device may intercept a connection request transmitted from a first terminal to a second terminal, over a secure network, with the connection request including a first parameter that identifies the first terminal and a second parameter that identifies the second terminal, with the first parameter and the second parameter relating to a network interface that operates according to a security protocol. The network device may then send instructions to the first terminal to establish peer-to-peer communications with the second terminal over a secured ad-hoc public network, using one or more keys provided by a central unit of that network. The keys may include an authentication key, which may be used in authenticating one or both of the terminals, and/or an encryption key, which may be used in encrypting the peer-to-peer communications.

A telecommunication and multimedia management apparatus and method that supports voice and other media communications and that enables users to: (i) participate in multiple conversation modes, including live phone calls, conference calls, instant voice messaging or tactical communications; (ii) review the messages of conversations in either a live mode or a time-shifted mode and to seamlessly transition back and forth between the two modes; (iii) participate in multiple conversations either concurrently or simultaneously; (iv) archive the messages of conversations for later review or processing; and (v) persistently store media either created or received on the communication devices of users. In response to determining that the special event occurs, a network type currently used by a device is acquired. Historical network usage information corresponding to the network type is determined. The network type and a traffic usage situation is outputted based on the historical usage information.

An activity support apparatus supports an activity of a worker at a disaster site. The activity support apparatus comprises a position acquisition unit that acquires a position of the worker, a boundary data acquisition unit that acquires boundary data that indicates a boundary of a building at the disaster site, and an entry determination unit that determines whether the worker has entered the building based on the positions of the worker acquired at different timings and the boundary data.
