An image processing apparatus includes an input device, an operation device, and a control device. The control device functions as a controller. The controller accepts an input of a plurality of topic words through the operation device, recognizes, upon acceptance of input of images of a plurality of pages of the original document through the operation device, a character string in the image of each of the plurality of pages of the original document, makes a determination of whether or not the character string contains at least one of the plurality of input topic words, and classifies the respective images of the plurality of pages of the original document on basis of the individual topic word based on results of the determination for the individual pages of the original document by collecting the images of the pages of the original document containing the same topic word into one group.

A medium transportation device includes a supply roller configured to send a medium downstream, at least one stopper configured to be switched between a blocking state in which the at least one stopper blocks the transportation path and an open state in which the at least one stopper opens the transportation path, and a controller configured to perform skew correction control in which a leading edge of the medium is brought in contact with the at least one stopper in the blocking state to correct skew of the medium. The controller is configured to obtain information about a stiffness of the medium and, when a second medium having a lower stiffness than a first medium is transported, the controller switches the at least one stopper from the blocking state to the open state to end the skew correction control earlier than the skew correction control of the first medium.

Setting conditions related to reading of an image of a document are registered in association with a user according to input by a user. When a user is identified, the priority order is determined so that a setting condition corresponding to the identified user is prioritized over a setting condition not corresponding to the user among the registered setting conditions, and the setting condition information indicating the setting conditions in the determined priority is displayed. The image is read under the setting condition based on the setting condition information selected according to the input by the user of the setting condition information indicating the displayed setting conditions.

A method of controlling an image processing apparatus. the method includes accepting a predetermined instruction regarding a predetermined image that is being displayed on the image processing apparatus, changing, in a case when the predetermined instruction is accepted, so that a predetermined mark added to the predetermined image does not overlap with a non-printing area corresponding to an area where printing is not to be performed, a location of the predetermined image based on the predetermined mark, and executing a process of printing the predetermined image and the predetermined mark in the printing area corresponding to an area where printing is to be performed on a recording medium.

An image reading device includes a first reading device, a second reading device, and circuitry. The first reading device reads an image of one surface of a document. The second reading device reads an image of other surface of the document. The circuitry detects a first skew angle of skew in the read image of the one surface, performs skew correction on the image of the one surface based on the first skew angle, and forms a second skew angle for the image of the other surface. The second skew angle corresponds to reverse of the first skew angle. The circuitry further performs the skew correction on the image of the other surface based on the second skew angle, and outputs at least one of the image of the one surface subjected to the skew correction and the image of the other surface subjected to the skew correction.

A communication terminal includes a memory and circuitry. The memory stores, for each image type information indicating a type of image data, sizes of a plurality of display areas, each display area being a divided area divided from an entire area displayable by a display, in association with required resolutions of image data to be displayed in the corresponding display areas. The circuitry receives, from a communication management system, specific image type information indicating a type of specific image data transmitted from other communication terminal. The circuitry transmits, to the communication management system, specific required resolution, which is a resolution stored in the memory for the specific image type information in association with the size of one of the display areas in which the specific image data is to be displayed.

The present invention provides an image forming apparatus comprising: at least one first module and at least one second module configured to execute functions corresponding respectively to the at least one first module; a first control unit configured to notify, to a corresponding second module, a request accepted by the at least one first module; and a second control unit configured to control in accordance with the notification from the first control unit, the corresponding second module, wherein the at least one first module is activated at all times from when the image forming apparatus is activated, and the at least one second module is generated as a container of an execution environment that is independent of an operating system and whose activation state is controlled by an instruction from the second control unit.
