Ergonomic head mounted display device and optical system
09740006 · 2017-08-22 · ·

Optical systems such as image display systems include a freeform optical waveguide prism and a freeform compensation lens spaced therefrom by a gap of air or index cement. The compensation lens corrects for aberrations which the optical waveguide prism will introduce in light or images from an ambient real-world environment. The optical waveguide prism receives actively projected images at an entry location, and emits the projected images at an exit location after internally reflecting the images along an optical path therein. The image display system may include an image source and coupling optics. The approach permits design of an optical viewing device, for example in optical see-through HMDs, achieving an eyeglass-form appearance and a wide see-through field of view (FOV).

Single unit 360-degree camera with an integrated lighting array

Methods of creating a 360 degree camera as a single unit with an integrated lighting array are provided. The lighting array is invisible to the camera when acquiring a spherical image. The creating includes selecting a housing for the 360 degree camera, the housing (i) configured to carry the integrated lighting array and (ii) having a plurality of surfaces that includes at least a first outer surface and a second outer surface; and, positioning a plurality of lenses on the housing to collect a plurality of imaging spaces that are stitched together to form the spherical image. In order to keep the lighting array at least substantially invisible to the lenses of the camera, the methods can include defining a plurality of blind spaces, n, each of which includes a blind area on the housing.

A security system and method for collecting and analyzing thermal data to save power and identify persons. The security system includes a processor with connected processor and one or more additional devices such as an alarm, lighting device or visual light camera. When the security system is in a low power sleep mode, the thermal sensor detects and collects thermal data from a thermal object body and the processor determines if the collected thermal data matches predefined parameters for a thermal body and then activates any one of one or more of the connected additional devices based on the match. The system is then operational to collect visual data and process the collected thermal and visual data to match against stored profiles. The thermal data may be collected at low or no light conditions to determine the need to power up the system to collect visual data.

Wide-angle image pickup unit and measuring device

The invention provides a wide-angle image pickup unit, comprising at least two cameras (4a and 4b) to take digital images, wherein the two cameras are arranged in such a manner that optical axes (11a and 11b) of the two cameras cross perpendicularly each other on a same plane and images of wide field angle α with the crossing point O as a center enable to be acquired, and wherein parts of field angles of the two cameras are superimposed on each other and an overlapping portion is formed by the two images superimposed on each other, and stereoscopic measurement can be performed based on the two images of the overlapping portion.

Methods and systems for coded rolling shutter

Methods and systems for coded rolling shutter are provided. In accordance with some embodiments, methods and system are provided that control the readout timing and exposure length for each row of a pixel array in an image sensor, thereby flexibly sampling the three-dimensional space-time value of a scene and capturing sub-images that effectively encode motion and dynamic range information within a single captured image.

A method and apparatus comprising a view generator. The view generator is configured to identify a position of a mobile display device relative to an exterior of a vehicle. The view generator is further configured to identify image data from a sensor system for the vehicle that corresponds to a field of view of the mobile display device from the position of the mobile display device relative to the vehicle. The view generator is further configured to display an external view for the vehicle on the mobile display device using the image data.

Light field display system for performance events

A light filed (LF) display system for displaying holographic performance content (e.g., a live performance) to viewers in a venue. The LF display system in the venue includes LF display modules tiled together to form an array of LF modules. The array of LF modules create a performance volume (e.g., a stage) for displaying the performance content in the venue. The array of LF modules displays the performance content to viewers in viewing volumes. The LF display system can be included in a LF presentation network. The LF presentation network allows holographic performance content to be recorded at one location and displayed (concurrently or non-concurrently) at another location. The LF presentation network includes a network system to manage the digital rights of the holographic performance content.
