MBS Security in UE Mobility
20230037970 · 2023-02-09 ·

In response to a UE in a wireless network leaving a multicast group to which the user equipment belonged or switching between multiple access nodes belonging to the multicast group, sending by an access node a rekeying token for UE(s) in the multicast group to use to access data for the multicast group. The access node generates key(s) based at least on the rekeying token. The access node multicasts traffic to the UE(s) in the multicast group using the key(s). In response to an other UE in a wireless network leaving a multicast group to which a UE belongs or switching by the UE between multiple access nodes belonging to the multicast group, receiving, at the UE from an access node, a rekeying token to use. The UE generates key(s) based at least on the rekeying token and receives multicast traffic using the key(s).

Network failover for migrating live encoders

Systems and methods perform a failover, handoff type of process for machines actively encoding and transcoding media content or other data, including live video. Based on dynamic analyses, including detection of needed updates due to security anomalies and encoder state evaluations, the encoder instance initially receiving a stream can restart following handoff to another encoder instance. System downtime is minimized through actions such as initializing the replacement encoder and passively migrating network resources to same, without any explicit coordination or messaging between the two instances.

Key generation method, apparatus, and system

A method includes receiving, by a mobility management entity (MME), a redirection request message from an access and mobility management function (AMF) node, where the redirection request message includes key-related information. The method also includes generating, by the MME, an encryption key and an integrity protection key based on the key-related information. The redirection request message is used to request to hand over a voice service from a packet switched (PS) domain to a circuit switched (CS) domain.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GENERATING AND USING A DIFFERENTIATED NEIGHBOR LIST

Disclosed are systems and methods for providing a differentiated neighbor list that can be individually generated for a specific service (e.g., per service) based on network service information, which can include, but is not limited to, a user equipment (UE) group identifier (ID), network slicing and/or quality of service (QoS) flow, and the like. Neighbors within the differentiated list can be characterized based on, but not limited to, service types, distance to devices, transport costs, service locations, and the like, or some combination thereof. The disclosed framework can generate and dynamically update a differentiated neighbor list for specific types of services so that optimal neighbor selection is performed for the type of service a UE is operating within to ensure that a network connection is maintained at a threshold satisfying QoS.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVING HANDOVER PERFORMANCE IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

An operation method of a terminal in a communication system may comprise: receiving a first occurrence reporting condition of a handover problem from a source base station; performing a handover from the source base station to a target base station; identifying whether a handover problem occurs based on the first occurrence reporting condition while performing the handover; and in response to identifying that a handover problem occurs, transmitting information indicating the occurrence of the handover problem to the target base station.

Prediction of handover trigger as basis to control primary-uplink-path switching for dual-connected device
11595864 · 2023-02-28 · ·

A method and system for controlling uplink-path switching of a user equipment device (UE) when the UE has at least two co-existing air-interface connections including a first air-interface connection with a first access node and a second air-interface connection with a second access node, and where one of the first and second air-interface connections defines a primary uplink path of the UE. An example method includes (i) predicting that a handover trigger for handover of the UE from the first access node to a third access node will occur and (ii) responsive to at least the prediction that the handover trigger will occur, but before the handover trigger occurs, forgoing application of at least a portion of an uplink-path-switch control process for dynamically controlling which of the UE's connections will be set as the UE's primary uplink path.

Selection of rats for handovers from 4G

As described herein, one of a third generation (3G) radio access network (RAN) or a fifth generation (5G) RAN may be selected to receive a handover of a communication session from a fourth generation (4G) RAN. The 3G RAN or 5G RAN may be selected based on at least one of performance measurements for the 3G RAN and the 5G RAN, a preference for the 3G RAN or the 5G RAN, or a performance threshold for the 3G RAN or for the 5G RAN. The handover to the selected one of the 3G RAN or 5G RAN may then be initiated.

Selecting a base unit in response to a handover condition being triggered

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for selecting a base unit in response to a handover condition being triggered. One method (1000) includes selecting (1002) a base unit of multiple base units for handover in response to at least one base unit of the multiple base units triggering a handover condition. The method (1000) includes transmitting (1004) a random access preamble to the base unit. The method (1000) includes performing (1006) a reestablishment procedure to establish communication with one base unit of the multiple base units in response to determining an inability to access each base unit of the multiple base units that meets the handover condition.

Discarding data corresponding to a conditional handover

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for discarding data corresponding to a conditional handover. One apparatus includes a transmitter that transmits information corresponding to a conditional handover to multiple candidate cells. The information indicates to one or more candidate cells of the multiple candidate cells a time to discard data or to discard the data.

Deploying idle transceivers for rapid connection of Wi-Fi clients
11595868 · 2023-02-28 · ·

Responsive to receiving a probe request at an idle transceiver over a first channel from a Wi-Fi client and a determination that the Wi-Fi client is not currently associated with the access point for service, a second channel being used for client service is identified. A probe response frame is generated including a CSA (channel switch announcement) indicating the second channel and transmitted to the Wi-Fi client causing authentication over the second channel. The Wi-Fi client is then serviced over the at least one non-idle transceiver over the second channel.
