A two-way communication Geographic Lighting Central Management System (GLCMS) to determine roadway lighting performance. Points, lines, polygons, etc, are used to define multiple geographic features overlaid on each other in a municipality relationships to dynamically establish street lighting performance including brightness, color temperature, and light distribution. The geographic data is accessible through a wide range of sources, and the geographic relationship between the data sources determines the lighting performance. Geographically represented features include, but are not limited to, lighting and associated infrastructure, pedestrian conflict, crime, roadway classifications, intersection classifications, lighting layouts, vehicular traffic volumes and road surface reflectance classifications.

A touch activated lighted sports ball is formed as a sphere having a core and an outer layer. A pair of electrodes are exposed on an exterior surface of the outer layer. An electronic circuit is disposed within the core. The electronic circuit has a battery, a lamp, an active circuit element, and an electronic switch. The electronic switch is connected to the pair of electrodes, and is responsive to current flowing through a low resistance path between the electrodes to energize the lamp.

A ceiling mounted light fixture includes a lens assembly including a central lens and a pair of side lenses. The central lens extends along a longitudinal axis, and each side lens extends parallel to the central lens and is positioned on a lateral side of the central lens. The fixture further includes at least one central light emitter for emitting light directly through the central lens and a pair of side light emitters. At least one control component operatively connected to the central light emitter and the side light emitters is configured to operate in a first mode in which the central light emitter is deactivated and the side light emitters are activated, and a second mode in which the central light emitter and the side light emitters are activated.

High colour quality luminaire

A color tunable lighting module is described which includes at least three solid state lighting emitters (such as light emitting diodes) and at least two wavelength converting elements (such as phosphors). The three solid state lighting emitters are formed of the same semiconductor material system and the light generated by them has dominant wavelengths in the blue-green-orange range of the optical spectrum. The two wavelengths converters are used re-emit some of the light from two of the emitters in broader spectra having longer dominant wavelengths, while the third emitter is selected to emit light at a wavelength between the dominant wavelengths of the light from the two emitters and the two converters. A control system may be employed to monitor and control the module and the lighting module can be optimized for tunable high color quality white light applications.

Backlight apparatus

A backlight apparatus includes a circuit board, a control board, and a connection cable connecting the above components. A first light source driver and a second light source driver are disposed on the circuit board and are electrically connected to a plurality of first light sources and a plurality of second light sources respectively. A connector is disposed on the circuit board. The first and second light source drivers are individually electrically coupled in series to the connector. The control board outputs electrical power, a first data stream, and a second data stream. The first light source driver controls the first light sources to light individually according to the first data stream. The second light source driver controls the second light sources to light individually according to the second data stream. Thereby, the circuit board can control the operation of the light sources individually.
