Methods and apparatus for a conducted electrical weapon

A conducted electrical weapon (CEW) launches wire-tethered electrodes to provide a current through a human or animal target to impede locomotion of the target. The current may ionize air in a gap. A gap may occur between terminals at a face of the CEW and/or between the electrodes positioned near target tissue. A CEW may include a detector to detect ionization of air in a gap. A CEW may use information related to detecting ionization to determine a location where the ionization occurred. Information regarding location of ionization may be used to determine whether the current was delivered through the target via the electrodes.

STUN DEVICE TESTING APPARATUS AND METHODS

A method of testing an electric discharge stun device includes the steps of identifying a stun device to be tested and absorbing a discharge from the stun device into a tester. The discharge is characterized by a discharge characteristic that is then compared automatically to information such as (a) a previous corresponding characteristic associated with a previous discharge of the stun device or (b) a corresponding characteristic associated with a prior discharge of at least one other stun device. The characteristic can be a waveform, a peak voltage, duration, current, joule, and temperature.

A Mobile Telephone Case with Fence Tester is a protective case for a smart phone with an integrated electric fence tester. At the rear of the case, below the typical cameral location, is a recessed electrode that runs the entire width of the case. This electrode is connected to internal circuitry which measures the high voltage output of an electric fence, used to contain livestock, when the electrode is held against the fence wire. The electronics are powered by its own internal battery, and the output from the internal circuitry is connected to a Bluetooth transmitter which allows the voltage to be displayed on the phone screen via a specialized app. In such a manner, no direct electrical connection is made between the tester and the smart phone. An alternate version may also have a dedicated LCD screen on the rear of the case. The use of the Mobile Telephone Case with Fence Tester provides farmers and ranchers the ability to test electric fences at almost any time.
