Electrochromic multi-layer devices with current modulating structure
A multi-layer device comprising a first substrate, a first electrically conductive layer on a surface thereof, and a first current modulating layer, the first electrically conductive layer having a sheet resistance to the flow of electrical current through the first electrically conductive layer that varies as a function of position.
Modular wave-break and bulkhead system
A modular wave-break includes a wall, a base attached to the wall, and an anchor attached to the base. The wall includes a set of dissipating holes integrally formed in the wall and a set of passage holes integrally formed in the wall. Reinforcing structural rods may be embedded in the wall, the base, and the anchor to provide strength. Mounting holes in the base enable the modular wave-break to be secured to a water bottom surface. Multiple modular wave-breaks may be interconnected to form a single wave-break. In an alternate embodiment, a water control structure provides for management of the water table of a wetland area. The water control structure includes a panel comprising a wall, a base attached to the wall, an anchor attached to the base, and a flow hole through the wall. Multiple panels are connected in series to create a water tight water control structure.
Tire assembly and a method of building a support structure in a marine environment using tires
A tire assembly for use in reclaiming land from a marine environment. An anchor having at least one cable connected thereto acts as a base to which tires are connected by threading them down the cable to form a cylindrical tower of tires which can be filled with concrete or filler if desired. A plurality of the tire assemblies can be positioned adjacent to one another and further interconnected for stability purposes and can form the basis for further structural elements.
Wave Energy Reduction System
A method and apparatus for creating moderately quiescent water in which salt marsh wetland grasses can endure and eventually establish without the need for the total elimination of the energy of occurring waves or the restriction of sediment passage
Method and device for deepening riverbeds and their cleaning from sediments
This invention relates to hydraulic engineering construction and can be used for deposit cleanup of river beds and channels. The object of the invention is to expand the arsenal of usable means for deposit cleanup and deepening of river beds, develop a method and create a device that uses the speed of the river current in the most effective way. The technical result of the claimed method is simplification and optimization of one existing method for cleanup of river beds and channels, increasing its functionality. The proposed method implements a movable water flow-restricting device with flow-guiding elements that creates a concentrated stream and directs it to a washout zone, bound by side walls, roof and washout surface.
In-situ capping with no loss of water depth
A method of remediating contaminated sediment area. The sediment has an initial water depth and comprises water and fine-grained solids. The contaminated sediment is contained in place by installing over the contaminated sediment an in-situ cap having a total thickness TCP. The contaminated sediment, and optionally any uncontaminated subsurface, is then consolidated until the total settlement of the contaminated and uncontaminated sediment exceeds the thickness TCP of the in-situ cap. The sediment is consolidated by installing a vertical barrier along the perimeter of the contaminated sediment area, installing a plurality of horizontal line drains into the sediment, connecting the horizontal line drains to a vacuum source, installing an in-situ cap over the contaminated sediment area and over the upper edge of the vertical barrier, and applying vacuum pressure to the horizontal line drains to dewater and consolidate the sediment.
UNPOWERED WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM FOR A RIVERFRONT LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTED WETLAND
The invention discloses an unpowered water purification system for a riverfront landscape constructed wetland, comprising a riparian wetland constructed along a lake-land ecotone of a river, lake-pond. The riparian wetland comprises a plurality of alternatively arranged wetland islands and watercourses formed between them. The bottom surface of the riparian wetland is lower than the normal water level of the river, lake-pond, and the upper surface of the wetlands is flush with the normal water level of the river, lake-pond. Plants are planted on the wetlands. A revetment is constructed between the riparian wetland and the river, lake-pond, and its upper surface is between the bottom surface of the riparian wetland and the upper surface of the wetlands. The invention achieves good purification and landscape effects. The purification system has some advantages such as good landscape effects, simple management without energy and power consumption, and thus is durable and stable.
Sand seepage stream and wetland restoration system
A system and method for restoring wetland habitats and providing a platform on which indigenous and transplanted plant species can thrive. Water from a source, such as, stormwater run-off is captured and filtered through a combination of sand berms and riffle weirs to a series of aquatic beds, thus creating nutrient-rich environment.
