Adsorption-based heat pump

Disclosed is an adsorption-based heat pump useful for refrigeration and cooling/heating for applications such as HVACs and chillers. Adsorption is a surface phenomenon where a solid substance (adsorbent) attracts molecules of a gas or solution (refrigerant or adsorbate) on its surface. The latent heat of the adsorbate provides the heating/cooling effect. The novel adsorption heat pump enhances heat and/or mass transfer to and from the adsorbate. One embodiment comprises at least one evaporator, at least one desorber (adsorbent heating apparatus), at least one adsorbent cooling apparatus and at least one condenser. The embodiment employs different techniques to enhance heat and/or mass transfer.

The device comprises: a laminar body having a first face and an opposite second face, a plurality of fastening elements made in one piece on the first face of the laminar body and configured to fasten said heating pipes on the first face. The invention is characterized in that both the laminar body and the fastening elements of the device are in a mixture comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer and thermally conductive inorganic fillers.

CONDENSATE PAN FOR A HEAT EXCHANGER

A heat exchanger (e.g., a furnace) for a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a condensate pan having a first opening defined in a surface of the condensate pan. The condensate pan is configured to receive liquid condensate via the first opening, and the first opening comprises a first cross-sectional area. The furnace further includes a pocket comprising a wall circumscribing and defining a second opening. The second opening has a second cross-sectional area greater than the first cross-sectional area of the first opening of the condensate pan. The pocket is configured to be coupled to the surface of the condensate pan such that the wall of the pocket surrounds the first opening in the surface of the condensate pan.

MAGNETIC HEAT PUMP AND MAGNETIC REFRIGERATION CYCLE APPARATUS

A magnetic heat pump includes magnetocaloric members, an impeller, deformable members, a casing, an electric motor, and a magnetic field generator. The impeller has accommodation chambers. The deformable members face the accommodation chambers. The casing has an interior space accommodating the magnetocaloric members, the impeller, and the deformable members and allowing a heat transport medium to circulate, a first inlet, and a first outlet spaced apart from the first inlet in the circumferential direction. The magnetic field generator produces a magnetic field becoming stronger along the first direction, in a first region extending from the first inlet to the first outlet in the first direction in the interior space. The shapes of the deformable members individually change with the rotation. The volumes of the accommodation chambers individually increase and decrease with change in shape of the deformable members.

HEAT EXCHANGER ARRANGEMENT FOR HVAC SYSTEM

A condensing heat exchanger system includes a first tube configured to receive a conditioning fluid, a second tube configured to receive the conditioning fluid from the first tube, a first vestibule panel coupled to the first tube, a second vestibule panel coupled to the second tube, and a drain trap assembly directly coupled to the second vestibule panel and configured to collect condensate.

Advanced multi-layer active magnetic regenerator systems and processes for magnetocaloric liquefaction

A process for liquefying a process gas that includes introducing a heat transfer fluid into an active magnetic regenerative refrigerator apparatus that comprises a single stage comprising dual multilayer regenerators located axially opposite to each other.

A heat exchange cell includes a helically-shaped heat exchanger, in which a first heat transfer fluid circulates; a first heat exchange chamber in which a first collection chamber is defined; a second heat exchange chamber in which a second collection chamber is defined; and a fluid outlet passage from the second heat exchange chamber. The first and second heat exchange chambers are separated by a first separating element comprising a substantially plate-shaped body and by at least a second separating element so as to define at least one passage of fluid between the first and the second collection chamber of the second heat transfer fluid. A pair of axial separator baffles extend axially between the second separating element and the rear wall of the containment casing, and are configured to separate a first portion of the second collection chamber from a second portion of the second collection chamber.
