Passive Anaerobic and Aerobic Exercise Assist System for the Inactive and Sedentary Population
A passive anaerobic and aerobic exercise assist system (100) is provided. The system (100) comprises an External Counter Pulsation (ECP) unit (110), a perspiration unit (120) connected with ECP unit (110), an Electronic Muscle and Nerve Stimulation (EMS/TENS) unit (130) connected with the perspiration unit (120), a monitoring device (140) connected with the ECP unit (110), the perspiration unit (120) and the EMS/TENS unit (130).
Fluid stimulation methods and devices for treating fluid overload
Methods for treating fluid overload in a subject comprise shifting fluids directly and non-invasively from an interstitial compartment of the subject to skin of the subject through controlled local sweating. Methods of the invention allow for removal of excess fluid from the interstitial compartment of the subject and treat fluid overload in the subject. Sweat stimulation systems comprise a chamber and first and second relative humidity sensors. The chamber is sized to fit around a body part of a subject, comprises an inlet and an outlet, and is configured such that air flows through the chamber from the inlet to the outlet. The first relative humidity sensor is operably located inside the inlet, and the second relative humidity sensor is operably located proximate the outlet.
Multilayered Thermally-insulating Garment with Ventilating Inserts
A multilayered thermally-insulating garment with ventilating inserts uses a thermally-insulative unitard, multiple venting inserts, and a chest opening to encourage perspiration of a user while exercising. The thermally-insulative unitard is a garment that is designed to be worn by a user and to promote perspiration. To accomplish this, the thermally-insulative unitard makes use of a multilayered construction that includes an interior layer, an intermediate layer, and an exterior layer. This construction enables the thermally-insulative unitard to trap the user's body heat, prevent sweat penetration, and remain flexible. The venting inserts are sections of a flexible and air-permeable material that are integrated into various portions of the thermally-insulative unitard. These sections are worn over the user's armpits, crotch, and buttock to enable air to flow past these portions of the user's body; thus, preventing odors. The chest opening is a cutout that exposes the user's chest through the thermally-insulative unitard.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING FLUID OVERLOAD
The invention generally relates to systems and methods for treating fluid overload in a patient by providing controlled stimulation of fluid transfer directly and non-invasively from an interstitial compartment of the patient through the skin of the patient.
