Method and apparatus for improving human balance and gait and preventing foot injury
A method and wearable system and for enhancing human balance and gait and preventing foot injury through neurological stimulation of the foot and the ankle. Subthreshold stimulation for neurosensory enhancement is provided via electrodes or vibrational actuators, or combination thereof, disposed in or on a wearable a platform, such as an insole, sock shoe, removable shoe insert, or applied without the support of a platform, to the skin surface of an individual. Suprathreshold stimulation for therapeutic purposes, such as improving blood flow, is also provided by the vibrational actuators. The actuators and electrodes are driven by bias signals generated by a bias signal generator that is coupled to a controller. The signal generator under the control of the controller is adapted to generate a non-deterministic random signal, a repetitive pattern or series of patterns. The controller optionally includes a communication port for interfacing with an external computer for purposes of optimizing and programming the controller. The wearable system is powered by a power source.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AUTOMATED MUSCLE STIMULATION
A method of electrically stimulating a target muscle of a patient includes placing an array of stimulation electrodes in electrical contact with the target muscle, applying an electrical stimulation signal to the array of stimulation electrodes, obtaining a signal from a sensing element placed on the patient, wherein the signal characterizes at least one biological parameter associated with contraction of the target muscle, and determining which stimulation electrodes optimize the efficacy of the electrical stimulation signal based on measurements from the stimulation electrodes and the sensing element.
Treatment apparatus using high frequency waves and method for controlling same
The present invention relates to a treatment apparatus using high frequency waves, and to a method for controlling same. The treatment apparatus using high frequency waves comprises: a high frequency wave generating unit; a plurality of needles for providing, into the skin of a user, high frequency energy transferred from the high frequency wave generating unit; and a driving unit for inserting the plurality of needles into the skin of the user, wherein the apparatus further comprises a control unit for controlling the driving unit such that the plurality of needles are inserted into a first target point within the skin and then move to a second target point.
Auricular peripheral nerve field stimulator and method of operating same
An auricular peripheral nerve field stimulator includes at least one therapy electrode configured for percutaneous insertion into an auricle of a human ear near at least one neurovascular bundle, and an electrical stimulation device electrically coupled to the at least one therapy electrode, the electrical stimulation device programmed to (i) generate and deliver electrical stimulation signals to the inserted at least one therapy electrode at a selected frequency for a selected duration to stimulate at least one auricular peripheral nerve field within the auricle, and (ii) repeat (i) with the stimulation signals having a modulated frequency.
Moxibustion jar and medicinal moxibustion device
A moxibustion jar and a medicinal moxibustion device are provided. The moxibustion jar comprises a jar body (10), with a first opening (11) being formed on the bottom of the jar body (10); and, an adsorption chamber (20) which is arranged on the jar body (10). The adsorption chamber (20) is configured to absorb the jar body (10) onto an object to be cauterized, and the jar body (10) is configured to generate medicine vapor and allow the medicine vapor to reach the first opening (11) to come into contact with the object to be cauterized. In this moxibustion jar, by providing the adsorption chamber (20) on the jar body (10), the moxibustion jar can be absorbed onto the surface of the skin of a human body. On this basis, a medicine liquid evaporation device (30) evaporates a liquid medicine to form medicine vapor, so that the gas pressure inside the jar body (10) is increased and the absorption rate of the skin is thus improved. Moreover, the moxibustion jar and the medicinal moxibustion device are simple and clean, and have few operation limitations and better therapeutic effects.
STIMULATION METHOD, IN PARTICULAR LASER ACUPUNCTURE
The invention relates to a method for the stimulation, in particular laser acupuncture, of a test person (1) in a specified body region (10), wherein—a number of reference stimulation points (RS.sub.1, RS.sub.2, RS.sub.3) are specified with respect to a reference (R), in particular a three-dimensional reference, of the body region (10) to be stimulated, —an image (A), in particular a three-dimensional image, of the surface of the test person's (1) body region (10) to be stimulated is captured, points (P.sub.1, P.sub.2, P.sub.3) are specified and/or ascertained in the captured image (A), the relative position of said points in the image (A) corresponding to the relative position of the reference stimulation points (RS.sub.1, RS.sub.2, RS.sub.3) on the reference (R), —the stimulation points (S.sub.1, S.sub.2, S.sub.3) to be stimulated corresponding to the points (P.sub.1, P.sub.2, P.sub.3) in the image are ascertained on the surface of the body region (10), —at least one stimulation unit (4) is automatically aligned with at least one of the ascertained stimulation points (S.sub.1, S.sub.2, S.sub.3) to be stimulated of the body region (10), and—the at least one stimulation point (S.sub.1, S.sub.2, S.sub.3) to be stimulated is stimulated by means of the stimulation unit (4).
