SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EXERTING FORCE ON BODIES
Systems and methods for exerting forces on a body, including a support structure defining a space and a plurality of surface contacting units that are configured to exert force upon the body, such that the weight is distributed away from the primary weight bearing regions to non-weight bearing regions of the body, or vice versa, without exerting significant shear or frictional forces on surfaces of the body. The systems and methods may be used to exert forces to cause fluid shift in different compartments of the body. Applications include treatment of various disease conditions including pressure ulcers, heart failure, high blood pressure, preeclampsia, osteoporosis, injuries of spine and to slow microgravity-induced bone and muscle loss. The systems and methods may be used to simulate gravity, weightlessness or buoyancy, in rehabilitation medicine. The system may include a chair, bed, a wearable suit or an exoskeleton.
THERAPEUTIC COMPRESSION SYSTEM AND METHODS OF USE
A therapeutic compression system for providing pressure to a limb or other body part, including at least one wrap having at least one bladder and a universal inflation port to connect to an inflation means to the at least one bladder. The inflation port has an open and closed mechanism so that when closed it maintains the level of inflation in the at least one bladder. The inflation means provides either constant or varying pressure within the bladder and a check valve is included in the inflation port and/or inflation means. The inflation means may be connected to a stabilization means configured to be attached to a body part of the user or a belt or other means around for example, the leg or waist or arm of the body. The inflation port connected to the at least one wrap may be self-sealing.
RECHARGEABLE AND PORTABLE COMPRESSION DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE
The current invention relates to a compression device wearable by a user for applying compression on a left lower limb and a right lower limb of the user. The compression device includes a left massager sleeve, a right massager sleeve, a computing device, a left air pressure hose, and a right air pressure hose. The left massager sleeve and the right massager sleeve are adapted to surround and secure the left lower limb, and the right lower limb respectively. The computing device generates air pressure. The computing device includes a control panel to control the flow of the air pressure in the left massager sleeve and the right massager sleeve. The computing device includes a battery to provide power supply to the control panel. The left air pressure hose supplies air pressure to the left massager sleeve. The right air pressure hose supplies air pressure to the right massager sleeve.
System And Method Utilizing Vacuum For Promoting The Healing Of Sprains
A system and apparatus for promoting perfusion at a tissue site containing a sprain by applying a vacuum to intact skin extending over or surrounding the tissue site. The system and apparatus comprise a manifold formed from a porous material and configured to be disposed proximate the intact skin for distributing vacuum to the intact skin, and a sleeve adapted to cover the manifold and form a chamber containing the manifold to seal the manifold within the chamber between the sleeve and the intact skin. The system and apparatus further comprise a fluid coupling member adapted to deliver vacuum to the manifold for distribution to the intact skin. A method for applying vacuum to the intact skin of a tissue site is also disclosed and described herein.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HEAT OR COLD THERAPY AND COMPRESSION THERAPY
A medical device providing a combination of thermal and DVT therapies to a patient. The components, arrangement of components, function of the device as a whole, and methods of use of the device are all devised to maximize therapeutic effectiveness. Effectiveness in this context is measured by the ability to provide a controlled application of the recommended thermal treatment including time, temperature, compression, and number of cycles with specified cycle duration.
PORTABLE, REUSABLE, AND DISPOSABLE INTERMITTENT PNEUMATIC COMPRESSION SYSTEM
The present invention discloses a deep vein thrombosis (“DVT”) device that is portable, tubeless, and battery-operated, which ensures that the patient will have maximum mobility during recovery. The DVT device provides a pneumatically controlled bladder portion, which is actuated by an electronically controlled air pump, where the pump/bladder combination is enclosed in a “pocket” of a wrap or cuff during use. All pump, battery, and control components are protectively housed in a plastic case that is permanently attached to the bladder portion. Once the pump/bladder combination is placed in the “pocket” the wrap or cuff will be sealed. The wraps or cuffs are single use, disposable garments designed to provide an absorbent barrier during use, where the bladder portion and air pump remain clean during use and can be reused by the patient or hospital staff. Tabs or extensions may be used to secure the pump/bladder combination after insertion into the “pocket” of the wrap or cuff.
Therapeutic apparatus for supporting a limb and facilitating compression of the limb
A therapeutic apparatus for supporting a limb and compressing the limb. The therapeutic apparatus includes a housing, and a plurality of telescopic support bars mounted underneath of the housing. The therapeutic apparatus includes a plurality of pads, a pad is mounted to one the telescopic support bars. The therapeutic apparatus includes a plurality of pressure actuators provided at each of the pads. The therapeutic apparatus further includes a motor electrically coupled to the telescopic support bars, the pads and the pressure actuators. A limb is received at an opening of the pad, and the motor is operated to adjust the height of the telescopic support bars and to adjust the angle of the pads. The motor is further operated to engage the pressure actuators to compress and to apply heat or cool to the limb to prevent blood clots and swelling and pain at the limb or calf.
Methods and apparatus for adjusting blood circulation
Embodiments of the invention include a method and a device for increasing blood flow and controlling the temperature of a mammal by applying a desired pressure to extremities of a mammal. The device generally includes a pliant body element that is adapted to receive a portion of an extremity of the mammal therein, and then apply a pressure to a portion of the extremity when a pressure is provided to a region in which the extremity is positioned within the pliant body element. By evacuating the region in which the extremity is enclosed, a contact surface area between the extremity of a mammal and the pliant body element is increased, due to the external atmospheric pressure acting on the pliant body element against the skin of the extremity of the mammal. The application of pressure assures that sufficient contact and thermal heat transfer (heating or cooling) is provided to the extremity of the mammal.
VASOCOMPRESSION DEVICES AND METHODS OF DELIVERING VASOCOMPRESSION THERAPY TO A PATIENT UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENT
Various devices and methods useful for providing vasocompression to a patient who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
PROCESSING GENERATED SENSOR DATA ASSOCIATED WITH AMBULATION DURING DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS (DVT) DEVICE USAGE
Processing generated sensor data of a mobile deep vein thrombosis (DVT) device may include identifying use of the mobile DVT device corresponding to a user. Sensor data associated with the user's identified use of the mobile DVT device may be generated. At least some of the generated sensor data may comprise ambulation data associated with a duration of ambulation during use of the mobile DVT device by the user. A protocol associated with ambulation of the mobile DVT device may be processed. The generated ambulation data and the protocol associated with ambulation during use of the mobile DVT device may be correlated. Based on correlating the generated ambulation data and the protocol, an alert associated with the generated ambulation data and the protocol may be generated.
