System and method to train system to alleviate pain
A method, system and computer-usable medium for training an information processing system to utilize personalized audio selection to facilitate achieving a target state comprising: identifying target states for a plurality of users; identifying a type of user for each of the plurality of users; identifying a plurality of sets of audio selections for each of the plurality of users; monitoring reactions by each of the plurality of users to each of the plurality of sets of audio selections; and, associating a set of audio selections from the plurality of sets of audio selections with a type of a user based upon the reactions by the plurality of users to the set of audio selections.
Actuator for delivery of vibratory stimulation to an area of the body and method of application
An actuator delivers mechanical vibrations to the body of a subject. The actuator includes a piezoelectric element, electrodes in electrical communication with an electrical source and the piezoelectric element to drive the piezoelectric element, a polymeric protective layer encapsulating the piezoelectric element and part of the electrodes, and an enclosure attached to the protective layer. The actuator includes a space between the protective layer and the enclosure allowing desired modes of vibration to develop across a surface of the protective layer that encapsulated the piezoelectric element. The actuator can include a skin attachment article that has a mounting pad for attaching to the skin of the subject and for attaching the actuator. The skin attachment article has a cover that overlies the actuator and the mounting pad when the article is attached to the skin of the subject.
System and method for cardiopulmonary resuscitation
A medical monitoring system includes an oximetry sensor having a light emitter positioned to emit light into a patient and a photodetector positioned to generate a plethysmography signal. The system includes a monitor having a processor configured to receive the plethysmography signal from the oximetry sensor and to identify a non-cardiac pulse based on a first pulse shape metric, the non-cardiac pulse being generated by the administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the patient. The processor is also configured to measure an oxygen saturation of the patient from the identified non-cardiac pulse and to output the measured oxygen saturation to a visual display.
EAR THERAPEUTIC DEVICE
An ear therapeutic device comprises middle ear ambient pressure equalizing means and vibrations means for providing oscillating vibrations. Middle ear pressure equalizing means comprises at least one conduit comprising at least one first end configured for receiving an airflow blown thereinto and at least one second end configured for external attachment to the ear aperture being in a fluid communication therebetween; and said vibration means induces vibrations propagating into said patient Eustachian tube.
Neural stimulation method and system with audio output
Systems and related methods for controlling delivery of a stimulus to a pinna of a subject with a stimulator worn on the pinna are described. A wearable stimulation device includes a mechanical, electrical, or other type of stimulator secured to a pinna of a subject. A personal computing device in communication with the wearable stimulation device controls delivery of stimuli and other aspects of operation of the device. The personal computing device also controls delivery of a sound signal (for example, music) to the user of the stimulation device in association with the neural stimulus. In some aspects recommendations regarding neural stimuli and other stimuli or experiences to be delivered in association with the neural stimuli are provided via a computing system in communication with the personal computing device or the wearable stimulation device.
METHODS AND DEVICES TO IMPROVE THE EFFICACY OF MECHANICAL CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION BY CHANGING THE POSITION OF CHEST COMPRESSION
A system and method for mechanical CPR can include a device for providing compressive force to various locations on a patient, and biological monitoring systems to measure the effectiveness of the various locations of compressive force in pumping blood through the patient. The system can also include providing decompressive force to increase the efficacy of blood flow.
REHABILITATION SYSTEM FOR ROBOTIZED MOBILIZATION OF A GLENOHUMERAL JOINT
A rehabilitation system for robotized mobilization of a human glenohumeral joint of a patient. The rehabilitation system may include a limb gripping member and an actuating mechanism. The limb gripping member may be configured to receive an arm of a patient and secure the arm of the patient in a predetermined position. The actuating mechanism may be configured to urge a head of a humerus bone of the patient to glide along a first axis by applying a linear force to a proximal end of the humerus bone of the patient.
GARMENT SYSTEM INCLUDING AT LEAST ONE SENSOR AND AT LEAST ONE ACTUATOR RESPONSIVE TO THE SENSOR AND RELATED METHODS
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to a garment system including at least one sensor and at least one actuator that operates responsive to sensing feedback from the at least one sensor to cause a flexible compression garment to selectively constrict or selectively dilate, thereby compressing or relieving compression against at least one body part of a subject. Such selective constriction or dilation can improve muscle functioning or joint functioning during use of motion-conducive equipment, such as an exercise bike or rowing machine.
CERAMIC LIFTING AND LOWERING DEVICE FOR THERMOTHERAPEUTIC APPARATUS
To provide a heating apparatus for a heat treatment machine configured to accurately bring each ceramic member into contact with a set moxibustion point, the present invention provides a heating apparatus for a heat treatment machine including a base plate, an ascending and descending member of which one end is coupled to the base plate through a coupler, a plurality of ceramic members provided in the ascending and descending member, a first driving part configured to raise and lower the ascending and descending member, and a second driving part configured to convey the base plate in a horizontal direction.
Interventive-diagnostic device
Apparatus for improving health of a user is provided, including a first sensor, adapted to measure a first physiological variable, which is indicative of a voluntary action of the user. A second sensor is adapted to measure a second physiological variable, which is substantially governed by an autonomic nervous system of the user. Circuitry is adapted to receive respective first and second sensor signals from the first and second sensors, and, responsive thereto, to generate an output signal which directs the user to modify a parameter of the voluntary action.
