Manufacturing Method for a Hood Type Ventilation Device
A device for providing a known concentration of blended air and oxygen, or oxygen, to an individual which incorporates a face mask inside a hood, thereby preventing aerosolization of potentially harmful exhaled gases and controlling condensation issues within the hood while under pressurized conditions. The air tight seal required to allow placement and removal of the hood on the individual will be manufactured using injection molded elastomers to over-mold injection molded rigid plastic components.
APPARATUS FOR MEASURING PRESSURE CHANGES IN STOMACH
A balloon catheter (100), suitable for delivery of a balloon to the stomach via application by the nose, the balloon catheter comprising a catheter (2) and one or more inflatable balloons (1) fixedly attached to the catheter. The balloons have an outer diameter from 4 to 7 cm, are made of a relatively hard material (e.g. durometer 70 to 100 shore A), and have an effective length of 7 to 18 cm or a total inner volume of 90 to 330 ml, when inflated by 0.2 psi. A system comprising the balloon catheter, and a pressure sensor for measuring a pressure of a fluid inside the balloon, and optionally a fluid pump for inflating and/or deflating the balloon, and a control unit for reading the pressure sensor and optionally for controlling the fluid pump.
FEEDING SET AND ENTERAL FEEDING PUMP ASSEMBLY
In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to provide fluid nutrition and hydration. In one illustrative example, a feeding set for use with a peristaltic enteral feeding pump has sections of flexible tubing or conduit, a dispensing control valve that is in fluid communication with the tubing, and a retention disk. In some configurations, the feeding set has as attachment mechanism, which may be formed by one clips or hooks extending from the dispensing control valve and coupling geometry of the retention disk. By some approaches, the clips or hooks and the coupling geometry are configured to attach the feeding set with the pump, such as by attaching the feeding set to an internal panel of the feeding pump. In operation, the feeding set and pump are used to move fluid nutrition and hydration from a container or bag to the patient in a controlled manner.
Method and Apparatus for Assisting, Checking, and Confirming Nasogastric and Orogastric Tube Insertion and Placement
A long, thin, flexible medical apparatus, a kit including such an apparatus, and a method for employing the apparatus to assist in placing a distal portion of a lumen of a gastric tube in a stomach of a mammal. The apparatus comprises an elongate body portion, a handle portion fixed to a proximal end of the body portion, and a distal tip portion fixed to a distal end of the body portion. An ability to insert the body and distal tip portions into the gastric tube over the length of the long, thin, flexible structure provides a positive indication that the lumen is not blocked, obstructed, or otherwise compromised over that length. pH indicator sensors may be retained by the distal tip portion to exhibit a verifiable color change in response to contact with a predetermined subject fluid, such as gastric fluid, lung fluid, or another bodily fluid.
FEEDING TUBE WITH INTEGRATED STYLET
A feeding tube with an integrated stylet, for use in less invasive surfactant therapy (LIST) procedures with pre-term infants, has a flexible feeding tube with distal and proximal ends and an adapter at the proximal end. A stylet with distal and proximal ends is positioned within the feeding tube and has an anchor at the proximal end. The anchor is configured to seat within the adapter to prevent the anchor from entering the feeding tube and has one or more channels extending through the anchor to permit fluid to flow from the adapter through the channels and through the feeding tube with the anchor remaining seated within the adapter.
Enteral Feeding Tube with Polygonal Configuration
A tube received, at least in part, by a breastmilk warmer includes a first segment having a first thermal conductivity, a second segment having a second thermal conductivity different from the first thermal conductivity, and a third segment having a third thermal conductivity different from at least one of the first and second thermal conductivities. The first segment is configured to be coupled to a source of fluid. The second segment is fluidly coupled to the first segment and disposed in a labyrinthine manner within a breastmilk warmer. The third segment is fluidly coupled to the second segment and is configured to be coupled to a feeding apparatus. The tube also includes a fluid lumen extending from the first segment through the second segment and to the third segment. The fluid lumen has a uniform diameter from the first segment to the third segment.
Catheter with balloon valve
A catheter having a selectively inflatable external balloon and an internal balloon, where the internal balloon is operable as a valve to control fluid flow through a channel.
Therapeutic garments and methods of use thereof
The present invention relates to an apparatus that provides therapeutic effects and a source of hydration. The apparatus includes a garment that has one or more compartments for storing a therapeutic element. The therapeutic element may include one or more herbs, essential oils, and combinations thereof. The apparatus also includes a portable drinking apparatus attached to the garment. The portable drinking apparatus includes a pouch having a liquid reservoir inserted therein and a drinking tube having a first end in fluid communication with the liquid reservoir and a second end having a mouth operated valve. Methods of use are also disclosed.
Systems and methods for dynamic control of enteral feeding according to energy expenditure
A computer-implemented method of adjusting enteral feeding of a patient by an enteral feeding controller, comprising: computing an estimate of energy expenditure of the patient based on oxygen measurements and carbon dioxide measurements of the patient, computing a target composition and target feeding rate for the enteral feeding according to the computed estimate of energy expenditure, when the target composition and target feeding rate differ from a current enteral feeding composition and feeding rate by a requirement, generating instructions for adjustment, by an enteral feeding controller, of the rate of delivery of the enteral feeding according to the target composition, wherein the receiving the oxygen measurement, receiving the carbon dioxide measurement, and computing the estimate of energy expenditure are performing iteratively for every first time interval, and the generating instructions for adjustment are performed for a second time interval that is larger than the first time interval.
Insertion device positioning guidance system and method
There is provided herein a system and a method for guiding insertion of a gastroenteral tube including: an electromagnetic field generator configured to generate an electromagnetic field covering a treatment area; wherein said electromagnetic field generator is external to the patient; a registration sensor configured to mark anatomic locations on the patient's torso; a gastroenteral tube comprising a tip sensor configured to sense its position and/or orientation relative to the electromagnetic field generator; and a processing circuitry configured to: calculate an orientation of the subject relative to the field generator based on the anatomic locations marked by the registration sensor, load a predefined anatomic map representing a torso; aligning the map based on the anatomic locations marked by the registration sensor, and showing on the map a path of the gastroenteral tube insertion; wherein the path is generated according to changes in the strength of the electromagnetic field sensed by the tip sensor's during the insertion of the gastroenteral tube, independent of the subject's movement and independent of deviations in the position and/or orientation of said field generator.
