Disclosed are sensor devices, systems, and methods for performing electrochemical measurements. The sensor device includes a flexible orthodontic device substantially cylindrical in shape with a hole in an end configured to allow saliva to pass. The device further includes one or more valves to allow the saliva to pass in a forward direction through the flexible orthodontic device and not in a reverse direction, and one or more electrochemical electrodes configured to contact the saliva, wherein the one or more electrodes are configured to determine the presence of one or more chemical biomarkers in the saliva.

One or more biting elements of a teething system are cooled to below ambient temperature, while a handle of the teething system is left at ambient temperature. One of the biting elements is selected by the caregiver and is inserted into a receptacle in the handle. As assembled, a cooled teething surface on the biting element is exposed so that a baby may bite it, but at the same time the baby's hands are insulated by the handle from contacting the cooled biting element.

A pacifier attachment device for releasably attaching a pacifier to a toy, the pacifier attachment device comprising: an integrally-formed substrate formed from a flexible and elastic polymer material, wherein the integrally formed substrate includes a strap having a first strap portion and a second strap portion, and a coupling mechanism for releasably coupling the first strap portion with the second strap portion, said coupling mechanism being integrally formed with the strap.

A method and apparatus can include: a shield; a shaft coupled to the shield; a nipple coupled to the shaft; and a membrane coupled between the shield and the shaft, the membrane providing a retracted configuration creating a storage cavity for the nipple based on the shaft being pulled away from the shield, and the membrane providing an extended configuration with the nipple exposed and extended past the shield based on the shaft being pressed toward the shield and the membrane inverting from the retracted configuration.

One aspect of the present disclosure include a method of utilizing an oro-motor device to activate an audio device, the method includes providing an oro-motor device having a sensor and a nipple; producing a signal when the nipple portion present in an infants mouth when the nipple portion yields a first measured pressure over an age appropriate predetermined threshold applied to the nipple portion by the infant; responsive to the signal, playing an age appropriate audio recording for a predetermined duration on an audio device; and raising the age appropriate predetermined threshold to a raised threshold proportionally to a difference between the first measured pressure application to the nipple portion and the age appropriate predetermined threshold.

A method for occupying a toddler may include providing a flexible mat; affixing the flexible mat to a vertical surface; providing an elongated tether; affixing the elongated tether to at least one of the vertical surface and the flexible mat; coupling an object to the elongated tether. In some embodiments, the elongated tether has an anchor end and a retention end. The retention end may have one or more retention apertures, each characterized by a retention-aperture diameter, and a retention terminus characterized by a retention diameter being greater than the retention-aperture diameter. Coupling an object to the elongated tether may include disposing the retention end around or through the object and disposing the retention terminus through one of the one or more retention apertures to form a compression fit.

The cleansing portion has a pair of walls with sets of bristles, such that the respective sets of bristles generally face each other. As an infant sucks on the pacifying device, the position of the bristles and sucking action result in frictional contact against both the front and back of the infant's teeth, providing improved overall cleaning of teeth and gums.
