The present invention relates to a composition for enhancing radiation sensitivity comprising aripiprazole as an active ingredient, and more specifically, to a composition for enhancing radiation sensitivity capable of treating cancer by acting as a radiation sensitizer when aripiprazole is combined with radiation. By administering an effective amount of aripiprazole according to the present invention in combination with radiation irradiation, it has excellent radiation sensitivity enhancing effects such as reducing cancer cell viability and inducing cancer cell death, so it can be usefully used as a radiation sensitivity enhancer.

METHOD FOR GENERATING IMMUNOREGULATORY CELLS IN A BLOOD-DERIVED SAMPLE
20230024405 · 2023-01-26 ·

The present invention relates to a method comprising the steps of provision of a sample derived from a blood sample of a subject that has received a checkpoint-inhibitor therapy and is suspected of developing or has developed symptoms of immune-related adverse events (irAE), adding a photosensitizing agent to the sample, and subjecting the sample to irradiation, which preferably generates immunoregulatory NK cells in said sample. In embodiments, the photosensitizing agent is 8-methoxypsoralen and/or the irradiation is UVA irradiation. In another aspect, the invention relates to immunoregulatory NK cells obtained from a method comprising the steps of provision of a sample derived from an isolated blood sample of a subject, adding a photosensitizing agent to the sample, and subjecting the sample to irradiation. Furthermore, the invention encompasses immunoregulatory NK cells for use in the treatment and/ or prevention of irAE in a subject that has received a checkpoint-inhibitor therapy.

uPAR-TARGETED PHOTOTHERMAL OPTICAL PROBES FOR PHOTOTHERMAL THERAPY
20230022032 · 2023-01-26 · ·

The present invention relates to tumor-targeted probes for use as medicaments and for use in treatment of cancer and to methods of treatment wherein such probes are used. The probes consist of a light-absorbing molecule linked directly or via a spacer to a peptide targeting the urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR). When irradiating the light-absorbing molecule of the probe with laser beams from an external source heat will be released locally to tumor cells expressing uPAR resulting in tumor ablation.

METHODS FOR ENHANCING IMMUNITY AND TUMOR TREATMENT

Provided are compositions, combinations, and methods and uses for treating a subject having a tumor, lesion or cancer. In some aspects, the methods and uses include administering a targeting molecule that binds PD-L1, conjugated with phthalocyanine dye, such as IR700. In some aspects, after administration of the conjugate, a target area is illuminated with a wavelength of light suitable for the activation of the conjugate. In some aspects, the illumination leads to the killing of PD-L1-expressing cells. The provided embodiments result in growth inhibition, volume reduction, and elimination of tumors, lesions or cancers, including metastatic tumor cells, invasive tumor cells, heterogeneous tumors and/or tumors that are not responsive to and/or resistant to other therapies. The disclosure also relates to compositions, combinations, methods and uses for enhancing immune responses, such as anti-tumor or anti-cancer immune responses, for responses against tumor growth and for effective treatment of tumors, lesions or cancers.

SYSTEM AND METHOD WHICH PROVIDES WIRELESS COMMUNICATION BETWEEN BIO-NANO ELEMENTS AND MACRO/MICRO DEVICES
20230027600 · 2023-01-26 · ·

A system for receiving data from the nano-elements inside the body or on the body is provided, including a molecular communication unit. The molecular communication unit includes an antenna to be attached to the body or on the body in order to transfer the data from the inside of the body to the outside of the body and an antenna body configured to change and reflect an electromagnetic signal when the antenna is subjected to electromagnetic signal, and the antenna body includes a re-shapeable part made of a material which changes in form when it is subjected to a factor inside the body. A system for sending data to nano-elements is also provided.

Enhanced MSC preparations

The present invention provides preparations of MSCs with important therapeutic potential. The MSC cells are non-primary cells with an antigen profile comprising less than about 1.25% CD45+ cells (or less than about 0.75% CD45+), at least about 95% CD105+ cells, and at least about 95% CD166+ cells. Optionally, MSCs of the present preparations are isogenic and can be expanded ex vivo and cryopreserved and thawed, yet maintain a stable and uniform phenotype. Methods are taught here of expanding these MSCs to produce a clinical scale therapeutic preparations and medical uses thereof.
