It is disclosed a food mixture, in particular a food mixture comprising hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein, and soluble fibres. In particular, the present invention relates to a food mixture comprising: —a fraction (a) which comprises soluble fibres; —a powdered fraction (b) which comprises at least 100 mg/kg hydroxytyrosol and at least 250 mg/kg oleuropein where said amounts refer to said powdered fraction (b). Said food mixture finds application, moreover, in the preparation of bread, pasta, and baked goods in general. The invention also describes food products which contain this mixture, a process for the preparation thereof, as well as the uses thereof in human and animal nutrition, in the treatment and in the prevention of inflammatory conditions and in the reduction of postprandial glycaemia.

Provided are a method for producing a purified Salacia genus plant extract having improved flavor by increasing the α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of the extract without significantly reducing the recovery rate of the extract concomitantly with purification; and a purified Salacia genus plant extract. The method for producing a purified Salacia genus plant extract includes an extraction step of bringing a Salacia genus plant-containing raw material extract including at least one of a Salacia genus plant, a Salacia genus plant extract, and a Salacia genus plant ground product, into contact with 0.1 to 20 mass % of activated carbon in the presence of an extraction solvent.

An application of HJT aqueous extract in the preparation of drugs against a Blue-ear disease is provided. For the first time, it is found in the present invention that HJT extract has a significant effect of preventing and treating the Blue-ear disease. Specifically, through experiments of qRT-PCR and immunofluorescence techniques, the present invention has proved that HJT extract can significantly inhibit infection and replication of PPRSV with significant antiviral effect, so that it is expected to become a new type of biologically active substance for prevention and treatment of Blue-ear disease. The product prepared by the method can be used as natural antiviral drugs for the prevention and treatment of the Blue-ear disease, realizes the comprehensive utilization of HJT plants, and improves its value, which has a good application prospect.
