The central processing facility removes impurities to convert biogas to biomethane and may include an H.sub.2S removal stage; an activated carbon scrubber; a gas drier; and a carbon dioxide removal stage. The facility also has a biomethane gas compressor configured to deliver the biomethane for use in power plants, for CNG production. Ancillaries to the system include fuel cells for direct electricity generation from biogas/biomethane.

SYSTEM FOR PROCESSING OF BIOGAS TO PRODUCE ELECTRICITY IN FUEL CELLS
20200259197 · 2020-08-13 ·

A system including biogas purification and provides biogas as feedstock to a solid oxide fuel cell. The biogas purification treatment process provides a polished biogas that is substantially free of carbonyl sulfides and hydrogen sulfide. The system uses a biogas treatment apparatus, that includes apparatus such as a packed columns, comprising copper oxide or potassium permanganate packing material, and an activated carbon component configured to treat the biogas by polishing it to remove carbonyl sulfides and deleterious trace residues, such as hydrogen sulfide, that were not removed by any prior bulk H2S removal steps. In addition, an oil removal device is used to remove any entrained fine oil droplets in the biogas. A polished biogas having in the range of 60% methane is charged to the fuel cell. Electricity generated may be fed into a grid or used directly as energy to charge electrical-powered vehicles, for example. Energy credits are tracked in real time and are appropriately assigned.

MICROWAVE PLASMA GASIFICATION AND RECYCLE INTEGRATED SYSTEM FOR DOMESTIC GARBAGE
20200238350 · 2020-07-30 · ·

A microwave plasma gasification and recycle integrated system for domestic garbage. The system is fixed in a garbage truck compartment with a garbage inlet, and includes a closed chain-plate type feeder, a shredding machine, and a closed magnetic separator which are connected in sequence. The magnetic separator is further separately connected to a microwave plasma gasification furnace and a metal recycle tank. The microwave plasma gasification furnace is further separately connected to a stink processor, a plastic residue recycle tank, an integrated sewage treatment device, and a residue smashing machine. The stink processor is connected to a gas recycle tank. Both the residue smashing machine and the integrated sewage treatment device are connected to an aerobic fermentation tank. The aerobic fermentation tank is connected to a decomposed material recycle tank by means of a decomposed material forming and screening machine.

CONTROLLED MEDICATION DENATURING COMPOSITION AND METHOD

In one aspect, a composition for decomposing pharmaceutically active agents comprises an oxidizer comprising a permanganate, and an isocyanurate; and an immobilizer. In another aspect, a composition comprises up to 50 wt. % of an oxidizer comprising potassium permanganate and sodium dichloroisocyanurate dehydrate, wherein the wt. % is based on a total weight of the composition.

Autoclave Biological Indicator Retrieval Device with Steam and Pressure Pass-through Tube
20200237945 · 2020-07-30 ·

During autoclave sterilization, technicians often tighten waste bags too tight not allowing proper steam permeation into the items in the autoclave bag. Additionally, biological indicators (bioindicators) should be used to confirm sterilization of items in the waste bag; however it is recommended that these indicators be placed close to the center of the bag to give a more accurate representation of sterilization. This is not safely feasible due to the need to probe into a waste bag for placement and retrieval of biological indicators after autoclaving. This device addresses both of these technical problems. Placing it in an autoclave bag cinched at the composite collar allows steam to penetrate into the autoclave bag via a pass-through tube close to the center mass of the waste bag. Additionally, this device holds many types of biological indicators allowing them to be safely placed and retrieved from center mass of an autoclave bag.

Device for the destruction of biohazardous waste
10688543 · 2020-06-23 ·

A device for the destruction of biohazardous waste converts harmful waste products into environmentally friendly discharge in compliance with environmental protection agency (EPA) standards. The device includes a waste disposal chamber where a crucible resides. The crucible contains a basket for holding the waste which is heated through induction coils that surround the crucible. The waste is vaporized and ionized in a vacuum forming a waste gas and drawn through a catalytic converter and a hot plasma jet via vacuum suction. The waste gas is then exhausted via a discharge duct where is it condensed by a heat exchanger further refining the waste gas into environmentally friendly molecules such as carbon dioxide. The waste destruction device further includes a programmable logic controller and user interface to control the device. Once the waste destruction process is completed, a compressor passes compressed air over the crucible to rapidly cool the crucible.

Method for preparation of research organisms

There is provided a method or improving the surface sterility of an invertebrate organism having an external cuticle, comprising contacting an outer surface of the organism, or a portion thereof, with an aqueous alcohol solution of less than about 70% v/v for a period of less than 60 seconds. The method is especially useful to provide research-grade organisms which can be utilised in research involving injection of compositions through the external cuticle, by reducing phenotype changes resulting from introduction of surface contaminants into the interior of the organism.
