A method of producing custom grommeted drapery that minimizes the need for inventorying of materials includes printing selected patterns or designs on assembled blank drapery. The blank drapery includes all of the layers of textile joined together as a unit, include a printing side or layer and a blackout side or layer. The blank drapery also have grommet holes punched in them, before or after printing the drapery. Once a selection is made, a blank drapery is then printed using the selected design, and then grommets can be assembled into grommet holes punched through the drapery along a top edge of the drapery. The inventive process obviates the need to inventory multiple different materials that are conventionally assembled together after printing a layer of textile for finishing.

The rotatable drive is inserted through the open interior of a plurality of tabs in the shade material. A grommet driver is positioned over the rotatable drive element and connected to one of the plurality of tabs. The grommet driver has at least one tooth that is in communication with the guide structure in the rotatable drive element. As the rotatable drive element is rotated, the grommet drive is driven along the length of the rotatable drive element thereby moving the shade material between an open position and a closed position.

A wirelessly controllable, motorized and battery powered drapery apparatus is presented having a rotatable drive element having a guide structure in its surface. The at least one extension piece is sewn to the at least one edge portion with at least one release thread and at least one tab operably associated with an end of the at least one thread. The length of fabric is adjusted by moving the at least one tab and pulling the at least one release thread to release and separate the at least one extension piece from the fabric body.
