ADMINISTRATION OF YUNNAN BAIYAO OR XINGNAOJING IN PATIENTS WITH MODERATE-TO-SEVER TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY AND CRANIOTOMY
Clinically validated methods of administering Yunnan Baiyao or Xingnaojing can improve postoperative recovery and long-term clinical prognosis of patients with moderate-to-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) and emergency craniotomy. Both medicinal methods are useful for minimizing or inhibiting the adverse impacts of secondary injury, oxidative damage and neuroinflammation associated with TBI, spinal cord injury, craniotomy/craniectomy, cerebral hemostasis and hemorrhage, coagulopathy, stroke, neural injury and neuroinflammation, and for promoting the long-term functional recovery and well-being of the patients with the afore-mentioned diseases.
Compositions and methods for managing or improving bone disorders, joint disorders, cartilage disorders, or a combination thereof
Compositions and methods for bone health, cartilage health or both, are disclosed that include preparing and utilizing a mixture of at least one Morus extract enriched for one or more prenylated flavonoids, at least one Scutellaria extract enriched for one or more free-B-ring flavonoids, and at least one Acacia extract enriched for one or more flavans.
Cosmetic composition comprising a yeast hydrolysate
A cosmetic composition including a yeast hydrolysate and to the use thereof in cosmetics, for promoting moisturization of the skin and/or protecting human skin against drying out and/or improving the barrier function and/or for an anti-ageing effect. The yeast hydrolysate is obtained by a process that includes solubilization of the yeast in water, enzymatic hydrolysis, separation of the soluble and insoluble phase and recovery of the soluble phase, enzymatic inactivation, and optionally concentration and sterilizing filtration.
Topical compositions and methods
The present invention relates generally to cosmetic compositions and methods that can be used to increase skin hydration, increase adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production in skin, increase antioxidant capacity of skin, reduce glycation of skin, or a combination thereof. In particular, topical application of the compositions to skin increases adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production in skin by at least 10%, increases antioxidant capacity of skin, and/or reduces glycation of skin by at least 50%. In particular, the compositions can include Chamomilla recutita (Matricaria) flower extract, Vitis vinifera (Grape) seed extract, hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate, Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF), and optionally carnosine.
USES OF A CAROTENOID IN THE TREATMENT OR PREVENTION OF STRESS INDUCED CONDITIONS
The invention relates to a carotenoid for use in the treatment or prevention of stress induced conditions, and in particular it relates to the treatment or prevention of a disease mediated by glucocorticoid receptor activity. The invention also relates to a cosmetic method for preventing premature-aging of skin in a subject which comprises administering a carotenoid to said subject. Finally, the invention relates to a method for modulating the activity of a glucocorticoid receptor comprising contacting the receptor with a carotenoid.
Methods and products to provide oral nutritional care to subjects with dementia
The present invention provides food products, nutritional programs, and methods for meeting nutritional needs of subjects with dementia and related cognitive disorders. In one embodiment, the invention provides a food product comprising a reversibly sealed container and a soup, wherein the soup is in the container and comprises a total volume of 200-2000 mls, a vegetable or meat component, 300 to 2500 calories, a macronutrient caloric distribution comprising: 20-80% fat, 10-45% protein, and 10-65% carbohydrate, about 2% to about 40% medium chain triglycerides, omega 3 fatty acids in an amount of 100 to 2000 mg and less than 20 solid food particles having a volume greater than about 20 cm.sup.3. Such food products, when administered to affected subjects, can positively impact (i) nutritional status; (ii) quality of life; (iii) disease course; (v) the demand for assistance from a care giver; (vi) subject compliance with a nutritional plan using the food product, and (vii) ease of monitoring compliance by the caregiver for verification.
Elimination of exotic pathogens
The present invention includes a novel means for destroying aggressive mold in a system. A foreign target antagonist both draws and depletes defense mechanisms for the mold at which point the mold may be attacked with conventional anti-fungal preparations. A more preferred means for destroying the mold includes the post-depletion application of a mold indirect antagonist adapted to ameliorate cellular organelle deformation in the organism. In this preferred means, the organism overcomes the mold with its inherent biodefense mechanisms.
Topical cosmetic compositions
A method of treating a person's skin is disclosed. The method can include topically applying to the skin a composition comprising jojoba oil and an oil extract of Opuntia ficus-indica tuna or Opuntia ficus-indica nopales, or a combination thereof, to treat the person's skin.
Lycopene colorant having fresh-keeping function, preparation method therefor and application thereof
Disclosed is a lycopene food colorant having a fresh-keeping function. The food colorant is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 1-3 parts of a lycopene crystal, 5-20 parts of an emulsifier, 0.5-5 parts of an antioxidant, 60-70 parts of glycerol, and 10-20 parts of water.
