Non-invasive breathing assistance apparatus and method

An nCPAP device for assisting patient breathing includes a generator body forming an inlet, a chamber, and first and second flow circuits. The chamber directs pressurized gas from the inlet to the flow circuits. The flow circuits each include a nozzle, a channel, and at least one port. The nozzle emits a jet stream into the channel in a direction of a patient side thereof. The port fluidly connects the channel to ambient, and promotes entrainment of ambient air with the jet stream. In some embodiments, the channel forms a ramp feature directing exhaled air toward the jet stream in an angular fashion. The generator body requires reduced driving pressures to achieve target CPAP levels and reduces total imposed WOB as compared to conventional designs.

Safety-enhanced needle-free injector

A method for needle-free injection and a needle-free injector device are provided. The method includes automatically injecting an injectable into a surface in contact with the needle-free injector in response to a skin compression parameter of an end of the needle-free injector. A needle-free injector device (102) includes predefined structures formed on it to inject an injectable through a non-porous material. The predefined structures engage an airlock mechanism such that an airlock in the non-porous material and operably coupled to the airlock mechanism can only be opened and closed to enable needle-free injection through the non-porous material without disrupting an integrity of the non-porous material by the needle-free injector device. Other functions, embodiments and methods for using and programming the needle-free injector device are also provided.

Systems and methods for cleaning and maintaining artificial airways sized for insertion within pediatric or neonatal patients (e.g., external diameters of less than 5 mm) are disclosed. The system includes a multi-port ventilator manifold configured to couple to a ventilation source, thereby forming a ventilator circuit with the patient. The manifold includes an occluder configured to advantageously reduce an amount of dead space in the manifold so as to prevent loss of positive end expiratory pressure of the ventilator circuit and reduce the likelihood of broncho-pulmonary dysplasia of the patient, or even premature death.

Flow path sensing for flow therapy apparatus

A respiratory flow therapy apparatus including a sensor module can measure a flow rate of gases or gases concentration provided to a patient. The sensor module can be located after a blower and/or mixer. The sensor module can include at least an ultrasonic transmitter, a receiver, a temperature sensor, a pressure sensor, a humidity sensor and/or a flow rate sensor. The receivers can be immersed in the gases flow path. The receivers can cancel delays in the transmitters and improve accuracy of measurements of characteristics of the gases flow. The receivers can allow for detection of a fault condition in a blower motor of the apparatus.

Device for facilitating the administration of a medicament to the lung by a catheter

A device (100) for facilitating the positioning of a catheter for the administration of a liquid medicament to a spontaneously breathing patient. The method and system according to preferred embodiments of the present invention allows optimizing the dispensing said medicaments. In particular the system according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention allows the administration of an exogenous pulmonary surfactant to preterm patients.

PATIENT TRACHEOSTOMY COLLAR

A tracheostomy collar is described herein having a number of features providing ease of use in caring for a tracheostomy and securing a tracheostomy tube inserted therein.

Acoustical guidance and monitoring system

An apparatus for acoustically detecting the location of a distal end of a tube relative to a body conduit into which the tube is being inserted is provided. The apparatus including a speaker positioned to generate a sound pulse in the tube and a sensor for detecting a sound pulse in the tube at a distal position relative to the speaker, and for generating a signal corresponding to the detected sound pulse.

WEARABLE WEIGHTED APPARATUS
20220379072 · 2022-12-01 ·

A wearable weighted apparatus is capable of providing gentle, targeted pressure to an infant that can simulate the effect of being held by a caregiver. The wearable weighted apparatus comprises a textile base, and includes one or more wraps with a weighted region. The textile base may take the form of a conventional infant garment, or may take other forms such as a band or harness. When an infant is wearing the wearable weighted apparatus, the wrap may be extended across the infant's body such that the weighted region is positioned adjacent to a specific area of the infant's body, for example, the infant's chest. The weighted region may contain a filling that is slightly denser than the surrounding material, in order to provide gentle pressure to mimic the weight offered by a human hand or arm resting on a baby. The weighted region may have also dimensions designed to simulate the approximate size of a human hand, thus simulating the sensation of being held by a caregiver.

HIGH FLOW THERAPY DEVICE UTILIZING A NON-SEALING RESPIRATORY INTERFACE AND RELATED METHODS
20220379056 · 2022-12-01 ·

A high flow therapy system for delivering heated and humidified respiratory gas to an airway of a patient includes a respiratory gas flow pathway for delivering the respiratory gas to the airway of the patient by way of a non-sealing respiratory interface; wherein flow rate of the respiratory gas is controlled by a microprocessor, a mixing area for mixing a first gas and a second gas in the respiratory gas flow pathway, a humidification area downstream of the mixing area and configured for humidifying respiratory gas in the respiratory gas flow pathway, and a heated delivery conduit for minimizing condensation of humidified respiratory gas.
