A jig for profiling the end of an elongate workpiece, especially a coping or crown molding section, comprises a support for a sample to be copied, and for a profiling comb to be pushed against the sample to define a cam surface. A cutting tool can be mounted to follow a path defined by the cam surface, to cut the workpiece end to match the shape of the cam surface. The profiling comb is movable between a first position facing the sample support to form a profile and a second position in which the profile can contact the cam follower on the movable mounting. In its second position the comb extends at an acute angle to the longitudinal direction of the workpiece support, which is configured to support the workpiece at an acute angle about its longitudinal axis corresponding to the angle at which the comb is fixed.

A kit for making a sign utilizing a router includes a plurality of interlocking templates that can be utilized to form the letters for a sign. The kit includes two or more templates that are positioned in the same location on a board in a sequence to form a single letter, number or symbol with an island with an uninterrupted perimeter. The load-acquiring unit is configured to acquire a force measured by a force sensor configured to measure a force applied from the tool to the arm during profile copying performed on a machining object by moving the arm while a copying guide attached to the arm and a copying mold placed on the machining object are kept in contact with each other. The control-signal-generating unit is configured to automatically control the arm by generating a control signal for the arm in accordance with the force acquired by the load-acquiring unit and with control information for the arm regarding the profile copying, and by outputting the control signal to the arm.
