PROCESS FOR PRINTING WATER SOLUBLE FILM
A process including the steps of: providing a water soluble film; providing an ink including between about 5% and about 30% by weight a solvent selected from the group consisting of diols, cyclic polyols, diglycols, triols, polyols, and mixtures thereof; and applying the ink onto the water soluble film.
Customizable apparatus and method for printing fluids
A system for printing 7 or more inks on a substrate is disclosed. The system can include: 6 or less rotating rolls disposed in operative relationship with a substrate, wherein each of the rotating rolls can comprise a vascular network configured for transporting at least one of the 7 or more inks in a predetermined path from an interior region to an exterior surface of the rotating roll. The vascular network can have at least one main artery, at least one capillary and a plurality of fluid exits on the exterior surface. At least one capillary is attached to a main artery and is in fluid communication with at least two fluid exits through a substantially radial fluid path to form a tree.

Patterned stamp manufacturing method, patterned stamp imprinting method and imprinted article
A method of manufacturing a patterned stamp for patterning a contoured surface is disclosed. The method comprises providing a pliable stamp layer carrying a pattern of features, forcing the pliable stamp layer onto the contoured surface with said pattern of features facing the contoured surface; applying a fluid support layer over the pliable stamp layer on the contoured surface; solidifying the support layer to form the patterned stamp; and removing the patterned stamp from the contoured surface. A corresponding patterned stamp, imprinting method and imprinted article are also disclosed.

VARIABLE DATA MARKING DIRECT TO PRINT MEDIA
An apparatus and method for printing directly onto print media including smooth non-absorbent media substrates (e.g., polymer films) inks having a wide range in viscosity, so that flexographic, gravure, and lithographic inks can all be contemplated. The proposed method is able to print with variable data/imaging. Dampening fluid may be patterned onto an imaging roll by coating the imaging roll with a layer of the dampening fluid and selectively evaporating off a patterned portion via a laser imaging device. The imaging roll then contacts the print substrate and transfers the patterned dampening fluid onto the substrate via film splitting. The substrate then passes through an inker station where ink is deposited directly to the substrate for attachment thereto except where rejected by the dampening fluid.
