Monitoring an axle of a railway vehicle
Apparatus for monitoring an axle of a wheelset assembly of a railway vehicle, the apparatus comprising a wireless sensor node fitted to a wheelset assembly, the wheelset assembly comprising an axle mounted between opposed wheels, each wheel being fitted to a respective opposite end of the axle, the wireless sensor node comprising a vibration energy harvester for converting mechanical energy from vibration in the wheelset assembly into electrical energy, a sensor for measuring a parameter, and a wireless transmitter for wirelessly transmitting the measured parameter or data associated therewith, and the apparatus further comprising a processor for processing the measured parameter to produce processed data, wherein the sensor is an accelerometer mounted to an end of the axle and the sensor and processor are arranged respectively to measure and process an axle percussion vibration frequency in the form of resonant vibration along the axle.
Methods and systems for decentralized rail signaling and positive train control
Systems and methods are provided for decentralized rail signaling and positive train control. A decentralized train control system may include a plurality of wayside units, configured for placement on or near tracks in a railway network, and one or more train-mounted units, each configured for use in a train operating in a railway network that support use of the decentralized train control system. Each train-mounted unit may configured to receive communicate with any wayside unit and/or train-mounted unit that comes within range, with the communicating including use of ultra-wideband (UWB) signals, and for generating control information based on the UWB signals, for use in controlling one or more functions associated with operation of the train.
Apparatus for locating a mobile railway asset
In one aspect of the present disclosure, an apparatus for locating a mobile railway asset is provided that includes a power source, GNSS circuitry configured to utilize electrical power from the power source to receive GNSS data, and a controller operatively coupled to the power source and the GNSS circuitry. The controller has a power saving mode wherein the controller inhibits the GNSS circuitry from receiving GNSS data and a standard accuracy mode wherein the controller permits the GNSS circuitry to receive GNSS data for a first time period. The controller has a higher accuracy mode wherein the controller permits the GNSS circuitry to receive GNSS data for a second time period longer than the first time period, and subsequently across multiple instances, in order to collect more GNSS data that can be qualified, filtered, sorted, and averaged to produce a more accurate result.
Train control system, ground control apparatus, and on-board control apparatus
The present invention includes an on-board control apparatus that generates train position information using ground coil position information and train speed information and outputs the train position information, and a ground control apparatus that receives the train position information outputted by the on-board control apparatus, identifies a position of a train using the train position information and stored track information, generates train control data having a size corresponding to the identified position of the train, and outputs the train control data toward the train.
Planning of maintenance of railway
The present invention relates to a method for automatically planning maintenance in railway, the method comprising the steps of determining maintenance for different assets at different locations comprising determining at least one of a predicted technical condition of an asset and automatically optimizing the planning accordingly. Further, a railway planning system for automatically planning maintenance comprising a determining component for determining maintenance for different assets at different locations comprising a determining component for determining at least one of a predicted technical condition of an asset and an optimization component for automatically optimizing the planning accordingly.
System and method for monitoring pressure inside railway vehicle
A system and a method for monitoring pressure inside a railway vehicle comprise a carriage pressure detection device, a control device, and an alarm device. The control device is configured to receive and process a pressure signal collected by the carriage pressure detection device, perform calculation on and analyze the collected data, and transmit an alarm signal to the alarm device as an alarm when a preset alarm condition is met. When a pressure protection device fails, pressure changes inside the vehicle are monitored in real time by the carriage pressure detection device functioning independently of the pressure protection device.
Systems and methods for communicating information associated with wind pressures
In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, by a controller, one or more signals from the one or more pressure transducers. The one or more pressure transducers are coupled to one or more pressure lines, the one or more pressure lines are coupled to one or more probes, and the one or more probes coupled to a vehicle. The method also includes converting, by the controller, the one or more signals to one or more digital signals. The method further includes calculating, by the controller, a wind velocity relative to the vehicle using the one or more digital signals.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MONITORING THE CONFIGURATION OF A TRAIN
The current invention relates to a method for monitoring the configuration of a train, the train comprising a plurality of railway vehicles coupled to each other, each of the railway vehicles comprising a monitoring module on each end, each monitoring module comprising a unique identifier, a low power radio configured to have a range within free space of at least 3 m and at most 10 m, a memory and a communication means to wirelessly communicate with a processing unit. The inventions also relates to a device for monitoring the configuration of a train.
METHOD AND CONTROL DEVICE FOR OPERATING A BOARDING SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE AND BOARDING SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE
