SYSTEM FOR DETECTING OBSTRUCTIONS ON A RAILROAD CROSSING
20170274917 · 2017-09-28 ·

A system for detecting obstructions within a railroad crossing. The system may include at least one housing in the form of a tower. The housing is located at the railroad crossing. A sensor box may be disposed within the housing. The sensor box may include a sensor and a transmitter disposed within. The sensor is operable to detect an obstruction on a railroad at the railroad crossing. The present invention further includes a wiring electrically connecting the sensor box to a signal gate at the railroad crossing. When the signal gate is powered the sensor is powered and the wireless transmitter is operable to transmit a signal to an oncoming train when the sensor detects the obstruction on the railroad.

VEHICLE SAFETY RAILROAD CROSSING SYSTEM

Provided are a surveillance system, an information processing device, a fall detection method, and a non-transitory computer readable medium capable of improving the accuracy of detecting a person who has fallen down in a railroad crossing. A surveillance system according to the present disclosure includes a LiDAR sensor (10) that emits a plurality of laser beams with different ranges to a surveillance area, and outputs a detection signal indicating a detection status of an object by each of the laser beams, and an information processing device (20) that determines that the object has fallen down when the detection status by a laser beam with a shorter range than a predetermined range indicates that the object is detected and the number of laser beams detecting the object decreases.

Drone based inspection system at railroad crossings

In the present invention, a transformable robot has been developed that can both drive and fly in the air to detect the different safety conditions and is referred to as a hybrid UAV/UGV. The invention relates to a transformable robot capable of flying and driving for survey of humps, visual sight lines, gates, lights, grades, rail deformations, culverts, drainage pipes, or signs at railroad crossings that comprise a ground locomotion system, an air locomotion system, controls, and a sensor that is necessary to do the survey of the different safety related conditions.

INTERSECTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

An intersection management system and method for reducing or avoiding potential collisions between vehicles are provided. The system may use a wireless signal, with or without a circuit, to traverse an intersection. The system may use, at least in part, a positive vehicle control system.

Method & apparatus for autonomous train control system

A method and a structure for an Autonomous Train Control System (ATCS) are disclosed, and are based on a plurality of autonomous train control elements that operate independent of each other. An autonomous train control element operates within an allocated track space, and based on predefined rules. Further, autonomous train control elements are paired together to exchange operational data. Pursuant to the predefined rules, an autonomous train control element acquires needed track space from a paired element, and relinquishes track space that is not required for its autonomous operation to a paired element. Further, an autonomous train control element is assigned a priority level with respect to the acquisition/relinquishment of track space.

OVERSPEED PROTECTION FOR A MOTOR OF A GATE CROSSING MECHANISM
20210262360 · 2021-08-26 ·

Examples described herein provide a method for overspeed protection of a motor of a gate crossing mechanism. The method includes monitoring, by an overspeed protection circuit, a voltage across a first Zener diode and a second Zener diode. An anode of the first Zener diode is connected to an anode of the second Zener diode. The method further includes, responsive to determining that a Zener voltage threshold is exceeded, allowing a current to flow into a gate pin of a triac. The triac controls the motor of the gate crossing mechanism.
