Stretch knit metal chain fabrics
A knitted metal fabric of at least two rows of loops, the rows of loops comprising metal chain knitted together to form a knitted metal fabric. The metal chain comprises a plurality of links of metal linked together to form the chain. The knitted metal chain fabric may be made into garments or used in any manner as other fabrics. A method for making the fabric includes providing at least one metal chain of links flexibly linked together, feeding the metal chain into a knitting machine, maintaining an even tension on the chain, knitting the metal chain into a knitted pattern to form a fabric, and weighting the fabric.
Composite textile structure for sensing, activation, and signal network
Embodiments of the disclosure provide structures for sensing, activation, and signal networking in a composite textile. According to one embodiment, a composite textile can comprise an activation layer of a reactive yarn knit into a fabric. The reactive yarn can have at least one physical property that changes in response to a stimulus. A signaling layer of a first conductive yarn can be knit into the fabric with the activation layer. The first conductive yarn provides the stimulus to the reactive yarn. A sensing layer comprising second conductive yarn can be knit into the fabric with the activation layer and signaling layer. The second conductive yarn can provide a feedback signal corresponding to the stimulus provided by the first conductive yarn of the signaling layer.
Distributed acoustic sensing using multi-band time-gated digital orthogonal frequency domain reflectometry
Systems, methods, and structures that provide distributed acoustic sensing using chirped optical pulses of selectable duration and bandwidth, at a frame rate limited by a round-trip propagation time of a fiber under test. Instead of processing a transmitted chirped pulse as a single sequence—our systems, methods, and structures employ a parallel fragmented multiband architecture, where each tributary correlates the received signal with a truncated chirped pulse to obtain the Rayleigh impulse response over its frequency band. By reducing the duration of the chirp processed by each tributary, spatial leakage is reduced at all the tributaries, thus even after combining all the interferometric products from all tributaries using a rotated vector sum, the resultant signal is much less impacted by spatial leakage than by using a conventional TGD-OFDR method.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING POROUS MIDSOLE, AND POROUS MIDSOLE USING SAME
Provided is a method for manufacturing a porous midsole the method including: a cotton-beating step (S1) of forming a midsole base (10) having porous voids 16 by mixing low melting fibers (12) and high melting fibers (14); and a thermoforming step (S2) of bonding and fixing the high melting fibers into a compressed state by the melt adhesive strength of the low melting fibers (12) by compressively thermoforming the midsole base (10) at a melting point temperature of the low melting fibers (12).
Insect-Resistant Fabrics Including Micellar Systems
The present disclosure is directed to insect-resistant fabrics or garments and methods for making the same. The insect-resistant fabrics or garments include an insect repelling composition containing a micellar system and optionally an insecticide composition. As an example, an insect-resistant fabric in accordance with the disclosure can include a base fabric (e.g., polyester) having been treated to include an insect repellant composition containing a micellar system. The micellar system may include one or more insect repelling agents (e.g., essential oils) contained within one or more micelles (e.g., saponins) in a first region of the fabric, and optionally an insecticide (e.g., permethrin) in second region of the base fabric. The inclusion of a micellar system in an insect repellant composition is shown herein to provide improved insect-resistant efficacy. Additionally, certain insect-resistant fabrics disclosed herein can also demonstrate durability when exposed to wear such as laundering the garment.
WOVEN FABRIC FOR SWIMWEAR AND SWIMWEAR USING SAME
There is provided swimwear which satisfies the stretchability, strength, ease of movement, and the like desired for swimwear, has superior water repellency, and reduces friction resistance between a surface of the swimwear and water. The woven fabric for swimwear according to the present invention has a weave structure in which covering coated threads are arranged in at least a part of a warp or weft yarn, the covering coated threads each including an elastic fiber as a core yarn and a synthetic fiber filament as a sheath yarn, where, in a woven fabric structure, one of the warp yarn and the weft yarn has a larger number of float yarns. A direction with a large number of float yarns is defined as a body length (height) direction of the swimwear, a ratio of resistance yarn in a direction perpendicular to the body length (height) direction is 40% or less. The woven fabric is suitably used for swimwear.
Process of controlled chemical reaction of a solid filler material surface and additives to produce a surface treated filler material product
The present invention relates to a process for preparing a surface treated filler material product with succinic anhydride(s), a surface treated filler material product, a polymer composition, a fiber and/or filament and/or film and/or thread comprising the surface treated filler material product and/or the polymer composition, an article comprising the surface treated filler material product and/or the polymer composition and/or the fiber and/or filament and/or film and/or thread as well as the use of a mono-substituted succinic anhydride for decreasing the hydrophilicity of a calcium carbonate-containing filler material surface and the use of a surface-treated filler material product for initiating the crosslinking reaction in epoxide resins.
Three-dimensional rendering preview in web-based tool for design of laser-finished garments
A tool allows a user to create new designs for apparel and preview these designs in three dimensions before manufacture. Software and lasers are used in finishing apparel to produce a desired wear pattern or other design. Based on a laser input file with a pattern, a laser will burn the pattern onto apparel. With the tool, the user will be able to create, make changes, and view images of a design, in real time, before burning by a laser. The tool can be accessed or executes via a Web browser.
COLORED POLYPROPYLENE RESIN COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE COMPOSITION
Provided is a colored polypropylene resin composition, which is excellent in high color developability, washing resistance, and sublimation resistance, and can be stably supplied. The colored polypropylene resin composition includes a polypropylene resin and a colorant, and is characterized by including a compound having a predetermined structure as the colorant.
Coiled actuator system and method
A method of generating a coiled actuator fiber that includes twisting a fiber to generate a twisted fiber; wrapping the twisted fiber around a core yarn or fiber to generate a coil in the twisted fiber, which generates a coiled twisted fiber; setting the coiled twisted fiber by heat or chemical treatment; and removing at least a portion of the core yarn or fiber to generate a coiled actuator fiber.
