SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONFINING BALLAST SAMPLES
In one embodiment, a sample confinement tool includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the sample confinement tool is coupled to a driving tool. The driving tool is coupled to a heavy-duty vehicle. The sample confinement tool is operable to insert a predetermined depth below a ballast surface and collect a ballast sample within the second end of the sample confinement tool. The sample confinement tool is also operable to confine the ballast sample within the second end of the sample confinement tool by mechanically compressing the ballast sample. The sample confinement tool is further operable to release the ballast sample into a sample receptacle by mechanically decompressing the ballast sample.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SCHEDULING TRACK MAINTENANCE
In one embodiment, a method includes generating a first visual representation of a location of a railroad station in relation to a railroad track, receiving a request for a first maintenance window, and determining that the first maintenance window is associated with the railroad station. The method further includes determining a first time period and generating a second visual representation of information associated with the railroad station during the first time period. The information includes an indication of a time that a train is scheduled to cross the railroad station during the time period. The information also includes an indication of a time duration for a second maintenance window that has been requested during the time period.

System and method for sub-grade stabilization of railroad bed
The invention is a system and method for repairing, improving, and stabilizing subgrade and subsoil/natural ground layers of a rail bed generally consisting of softer soils. One embodiment includes a method of installing subsurface inclusions and ballast fills comprising injected slurry mixtures of stabilizing material such as cement grout mixed with in situ soil. Another embodiment includes a system of installed ground inclusions and ballast fills. Another embodiment includes an integrated system of equipment for emplacing the system of inclusions and ballast fills.

A METHOD OF OPERATING A RAIL-GUIDED PERMANENT WAY MACHINE, AND A PERMANENT WAY MACHINE
A rail-guided permanent way machine is operated by means of a control device in such a way that at least one state variable (Z) of the permanent way machine is determined in dependence on an operating state, and the at least one state variable is compared to at least one pre-defined limit value (G.sub.W, G.sub.S) for monitoring a derailment safety of the permanent way machine. Thus, the derailment safety of the permanent way machine is determined in accordance with the current operating state and monitored. As a result, the permanent way machine has an expanded operating range and increased performance and thus increased efficiency.

DEVICE FOR DISCHARGING MULTI-COMPONENT ADHESIVES ONTO A GRANULAR MIXTURE DISCHARGING METHOD, AND USE OF THE DEVICE
An apparatus for discharging multi-component adhesives of at least two fluidic components onto a granular ballast bed of a railway rail train includes of at least two separate carriages, which can be transferred into a vehicle or a trailer by having the vehicle or the trailer equipped on the inside with rails onto which the carriages can be rolled. The wagons can thus be transported by road to the usage site and can be put into operation by placing them from the trailer onto the tracks of the railway track using extendable rails. The apparatus allows the fully automatic spreading of adhesives over long distances to a ballast bed, so that the ballast bed is bonded in so that trains can continue to run normally. The entire apparatus can be loaded, transported and unloaded on site and put into operation by just two persons.
