NON-UNIFORM TURBOMACHINERY BLADE TIPS FOR FREQUENCY TUNING

A rotor blade system includes a rotor, a casing radially spaced apart from the rotor, and a plurality of blades coupled to the rotor and positioned between the rotor and the casing. The one or more of the plurality of blades have a radial length different from a remaining one or more of the plurality of blades so as to vary a tip gap between a tip of the one or more of the plurality of blades and the casing to break up a frequency content of a leakage vortex at the tip to modify natural frequencies of the plurality of blades and mode shapes to reduce or substantially eliminate flutter.

SLOTTED CERAMIC COATING WITH A REACTIVE PHASE COATING DISPOSED THEREON FOR IMPROVED CMAS RESISTANCE AND METHODS OF FORMING THE SAME

A coated component including a slotted ceramic coating with a reactive phase coating disposed thereon for improved resistance to environmental contaminant compositions, along with methods of its formation, is provided. The coated component may include a substrate defining a surface, a ceramic coating disposed on the surface of the substrate, and a reactive phase coating disposed on the layer of environmental contaminant compositions. The ceramic coating includes a plurality of slots disposed in the ceramic coating forming segments of ceramic coating material.

Seal coating

A method of forming a coating includes disposing a substrate having a plurality of protrusions on a seal and layering a topcoat over the protrusions. The method of forming a coating also includes creating a wear pattern and converting the topcoat. A turbine section includes a casing, a plurality of blades within the casing, and a substrate deposited on the casing having a plurality of protrusions. The turbine also includes an unconverted topcoat disposed over the plurality of protrusions, the topcoat having segmented portions defining a plurality of faults extending from the protrusions through the topcoat. A method of forming a coating includes creating a channel in the coating during an initial rub event and converting the coating during a high-temperature event. Converting the coating includes preserving the channel created during the initial rub event.

In situ foam generation within a turbine engine

A turbine system includes a foam generating assembly having an in situ foam generating device at least partially positioned within the fluid passageway of the turbine engine, such that the in situ foam generating device is configured to generate foam within the fluid passageway of the turbine engine.

CMC shroud segment with interlocking mechanical joints and fabrication

A shroud segment including a forward radial wall, an aft radial wall and at least one interlocking subcomponent. The forward radial wall, an aft radial wall and the at least one interlocking subcomponent are each formed of a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) including reinforcing fibers embedded in a matrix. The shroud segment further including an interlocking mechanical joint joining each of the forward radial wall and the aft radial wall to the at least one interlocking subcomponent. Methods are also provided for joining the forward radial wall and the aft radial wall to the at least one interlocking subcomponent using an interlocking mechanical joint.

Component repair system and method

A method of repairing a component of a gas turbine engine in situ, wherein the component includes a deposit, includes directing a flow of gas, which may be an oxygen-containing gas, to the deposit of the component; and heating the component including the deposit while the component is installed in the gas turbine engine and for a duration sufficient to substantially remove the deposit.

OXIDATION AND WEAR RESISTANT COATING

A method includes applying a material coating on a surface of a machine component using a thermal spray, wherein the material coating is formed from a combination of a hardfacing material and aluminum-containing particles. The method also includes thermally treating the material coating to generate an oxide layer comprising aluminum from the aluminum-containing particles, wherein the oxide layer is configured to reduce oxidation of the hardfacing material.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A TURBINE ENGINE VANE AND TURBINE ENGINE VANE

A method for manufacturing a blade with a first portion and a second portion, the method includes forming the first portion that includes forming a model of the first portion from removable material, forming a first shell mould from the model of the first portion, and forming the single-crystal or columnar first portion m a first metal alloy in the first shell mould from a single-crystal seed, and forming the second portion in which the second portion is formed on the first portion, and in which the first portion and the second portion are made from different materials, the second portion being polycrystalline and formed from a second metal alloy. The blade includes a single-crystal or columnar first portion made from a first metal alloy and a polycrystalline second portion made from the second metal alloy different from the first metal alloy.

Fuel control device, combustor, gas turbine, fuel control method, and program

A fuel control device includes a stem fuel valve opening degree determination unit, a branch line flow rate determination unit, and a correction value determination unit. The stem fuel valve opening degree determination unit is configured to determine an opening degree of a flow rate adjustment valve of a stem fuel supply line. The branch line flow rate determination unit is configured to determine an opening degree of a flow rate adjustment valve of at least one branch line. The correction value determination unit is configured to determine a correction value of the opening degree of the flow rate adjustment valve of the at least one branch line based on a value of a pressure difference between a fuel pressure upstream of a nozzle connected to the at least one branch line and a corrected fuel pressure for a fuel pressure at an outlet.
