Walker safety training device and method of use
11464701 · 2022-10-11 ·

The present invention provides a safety training device capable of being attached to an existing front-wheeled walker. The safety training device a modified ski unit, a braking mechanism, a brake cable and hose. When improper transfer techniques are utilized by a patient, the modified ski unit engages the brake and cable hose to exert a force to the braking mechanism. The braking mechanism activates a braking member on the wheel of the walker, halting further movement of the patient and walker. Simultaneously, a striking member of the braking mechanism makes contact with the frame of the walker, producing an audible cue, alerting the patient and any healthcare professionals present that improper technique is being used in a transfer.

End of arm tool (EOAT) for layup of pre-impregnated composite laminates and robotic arm control system and method

An end of arm tool (EOAT) for use during manufacture of parts using one or more pre-impregnated composite plies is disclosed. In an embodiment, the EOAT includes a mechanical gripper arrangement with first and second fingers configured to supply a compressive force to grip a pre-impregnated composite ply therebetween. At least one of the first and second fingers include a roller member to engage opposite surfaces of the pre-preg ply and supply a compressive gripping force. The roller member on either or both the first and second fingers preferably include a torque regulator to selectively adjust an associated roller member's resistance to rotation via supply of a rotational torque resistance.

Platter with improved braking control

A platter apparatus with improved braking control includes a support base where a platter is rotatably secured to the support base with a circular wall downwardly depending from the platter. An arm, which is slidably connected to the base is linearly actuatable between a first position and a second position. A brake pad is connected to an end of the arm and is in removable and adjustable frictional engagement with the circular wall to provide an amount of braking of rotation of the platter relative to the support base depending on the linear position of the arm. The brake pad is connected to the arm by a compression spring and limited by a torsion spring to enable a zero friction braking-free position.

Handheld work apparatus

A handheld work apparatus includes a work tool, a belt drive, a drive motor configured to drive the work tool via the belt drive, a brake unit configured to act on the belt drive, and a holding arrangement. The brake unit has a braking position and a released position and the holding arrangement is configured to hold the brake unit in the released position. The holding arrangement includes an electromagnet to which current is supplied during operation of the work apparatus.

Debris Eradicating Brake Head for a Truck Mounted Brake System
20170328427 · 2017-11-16 ·

A debris eradicating brake head for use in a side frame mounted braking system in a railway vehicle. The brake head being mounted on an end of a brake beam and including a brake shoe carrier associated with the brake head, a brake shoe secured to a face portion of the brake shoe carrier, and a brake head extension extending from a side portion of the brake shoe carrier for associating the brake head within a unit guide in a side frame of the railway vehicle. The brake head extension including at least one of a first and a second tapered surface configured for breaking up and pushing debris out of the unit guide in the side frame. Eradication of debris within the side frame increases the braking efficiency of the railway vehicle as it reduces the amount of force necessary for applying the brake shoes to the wheels.
