Polymeric nanocomposite based sensor and coating systems and their applications
A system and method for direct and/or active detection and monitoring of civil engineering or other infrastructural structures, and in a preferred embodiment, for hydrocarbon leakage in oil and gas pipelines, storage structures, and/or transportation structures. Particularly, the system and method relate to various nanocomposite sensor coating and data gathering systems. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a single measurement sensor coating (thin film) sensor. Other embodiments relate to multiple measurement sensor coating systems. The sensor is comprised of either a discrete conductive filament layer, or a single or multiple mesh of interwoven filaments of conductive material in one direction and nonconductive material in a perpendicular direction, as a substrate coated with sensitive coating materials to form a sensor grid. Various embodiments of the sensor coating and their applications are also disclosed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A PROCESS TO CREATE IMPROVED PIPING TO SUPRESS THE BUILD UP OF BIOLOGICAL ORGANISMS
A system and method for a process to prepare piping such that it has a reduced chance of having biological organisms developing or growing within it by means of the addition of a metal structure to at least a portion of the inner wall of the piping. The system utilizes a limited amount of metal on or close to the inside wall of the piping to retard or suppress the growth of biological organisms within the piping. The limited amount of metal inside the pipe does not materially interfere with the structural aspects or performance of the pipe, nor does it significantly increasing the material costs of the pipe, while providing a unique and novel improved anti-biologic organism performance. The system is suitable for residential or commercial use.
PIPE INSULATION SPACER SYSTEM
A pipe insulation spacer system has a first spacer ring and a second spacer ring. Each of the first spacer ring and the second spacer ring have a flexible band. The flexible band has a bottom with a plurality of feet. The plurality of feet engage an outer surface of the process pipe such that the flexible band is spaced from the outer surface of the process pipe. An inner cladding has a body with a first end, a second end, and a pair of peripheral side edges. The first end of the inner cladding is supported by the first end spacer ring and the second end of the inner cladding is supported by the second end spacer ring. The inner cladding wraps around the process pipe such that the pair of peripheral side edges are adjacent each other and the inner cladding is spaced from the process pipe.
RESIN RICH POLYUREA-BASED INTEGRATED EXTERNAL LAYER FOR REINFORCED THERMOSETTING RESIN PIPING PROTECTION
This disclosure describes a reinforced thermosetting resin piping system that is protected from external impact and UV damage by an outer polyurea-based layer. The embodiments described herein can be favorably used for underground and aboveground applications. In some implementations, an RTR pipe includes a core layer that includes a resin and fibers, an outer layer that includes a polyurea-based layer, and an interface layer between the core layer and the outer layer. The methods described herein also outline the process of producing the pipe structure.

The disclosure relates to systems, methods and apparatus for analyzing an infrastructure system including measurement of a parameter associated with the infrastructure system, electronically recording the measured parameter as a data, transferring the data to an infrastructure unit which may be remote from the infrastructure system, analyzing the data to generate a risk model, and predicting a characteristic of the infrastructure system according to the risk. An implementation plan may be generated, and/or maintenance services may be performed as per the characteristic that is predicted.

A rubber composition having improved electrical insulation properties for reducing galvanic corrosion, a method of preparing the composition, and a rubber hose for vehicles using the composition are disclosed. The rubber composition includes a base polymer, a reinforcing agent, an anti-aging agent, an activating agent, a plasticizer, and a crosslinking agent, and has electrical insulation resistance (10.sup.7 Ω.Math.cm) of 50 or more.
PIPELINE IDENTIFICATION AND CALIBRATION APPARATUS
A pipeline identification and calibration apparatus coupled to a pipe communicates with an in-line inspection tool to help a user to determine an extent of damage suffered by the pipe is provided. The apparatus includes a communication sheet coupled to the pipe and having a pipe calibration area and a pipe identification area, the pipe calibration area having a plurality of etchings, voids or magnetic inserts having variable dimensions and spacing between adjacent members of either the etchings, voids or the magnetic inserts. The user compares data generated by the in-line inspection tool to the etchings, voids or magnetic inserts on the pipe calibration area of the communication sheet to determine the extent of damage to the pipe.
