An image forming system includes: an image forming apparatus configured to form an image on a recording medium; a post-processing apparatus configured to perform post-processing on the recording medium on which an image is formed by the image forming apparatus; a relay apparatus having a function of changing a transport speed of the recording medium on which an image is formed by the image forming apparatus to a transport speed of the post-processing apparatus and transporting the recording medium to a subsequent stage; and a charge eliminating apparatus configured to perform charge elimination on the recording medium that is charged, by reducing a charge amount of the charged recording medium, and the charge eliminating apparatus is provided at a stage that is after the relay apparatus and before the post-processing apparatus.

An image forming apparatus, including: a cartridge including a photosensitive drum and a regulation portion; a light emitting device configured to emit light from a light emission surface to the photosensitive drum; and a movement unit configured to reciprocate the light emitting device between an exposure position and a retracted position, wherein the regulation portion regulates a cleaning member, which includes a cleaning portion configured to rub and clean the light emission surface by a sliding movement of the cleaning member on the light emission surface of the light emitting device positioned at the retracted position so as to prevent the cleaning member from contacting the photosensitive drum and so as to bias the cleaning portion to prevent the cleaning portion from being separated from the light emission surface during the sliding movement of the cleaning member.

A cleaning member includes plural bristles including tips that come into contact with an object to be cleaned having a surface including recesses and projections; and a brush base to which the bristles are attached. The bristles each have a non-circular cross-section including a projecting portion that projects toward an outer periphery, at least the projecting portion having a size such that the projecting portion is capable of entering the recesses in the object to be cleaned.

An image forming apparatus includes a discharging device that discharges a sheet to which a toner image is transferred. The discharging device is disposed on a side opposite to a transfer surface of the sheet to which the toner image is transferred downstream from a nip portion between an intermediate transfer belt and an external secondary transfer roller in a sheet conveyance direction. The discharging device includes a grounded first discharging plate, and a grounded second discharging plate which is disposed downstream from the first discharging plate in the sheet conveyance direction at an angle different from an angle of the first discharging plate.

A discharging method used in an image forming apparatus includes discharging, with an exposure device, an exposure range of the latent image bearer, and discharging, with a discharger, an area of the latent image bearer outside the exposure range and inside a developing range in a main scanning direction. The exposure range is inside the developing range in the main scanning direction. The discharging with the exposure device and the discharging with the discharger are performed when a rotation of the latent image bearer is stopped after a toner image is transferred from the latent image bearer.

An image forming apparatus, including: a cartridge including a photosensitive drum and a regulation portion; a light emitting device configured to emit light from a light emission surface to the photosensitive drum; and a movement unit configured to reciprocate the light emitting device between an exposure position and a retracted position, wherein the regulation portion regulates a cleaning member, which includes a cleaning portion configured to rub and clean the light emission surface by a sliding movement of the cleaning member on the light emission surface of the light emitting device positioned at the retracted position so as to prevent the cleaning member from contacting the photosensitive drum and so as to bias the cleaning portion to prevent the cleaning portion from being separated from the light emission surface during the sliding movement of the cleaning member.
