Automated computational method and tolling system for the determination of the validity of the passage of a vehicle in a toll

The present disclosure is enclosed in the area of validation of vehicles in road tolls, which may also be designated as tolling systems. The present disclosure includes an automated computational method for the determination of the validity of the passage of a vehicle in a toll which includes two detection modes of a vehicle, through optical means and a mobile device receiving a wireless beacon with unique information associated with the toll and subsequently in connection with a remote backend server. The wireless beacon is a simple type of message which does not require that the mobile device and a fixed wireless device establish a connection. Such feature is one particularly relevant in the applications of the present disclosure, as it highly improves the efficacy of the receipt of the unique information associated with the toll by the mobile device. The present disclosure further includes a corresponding system.

PARKING CHARGE DEVICE AND PARKING DURATION MANAGEMENT METHOD
20230230135 · 2023-07-20 ·

A parking charge device, which charges a parking fee of a target vehicle in a parking lot with automated valet parking service, is configured to: start a count operation for charging purpose when a start condition is satisfied, terminate the count operation when a termination condition is satisfied; calculate a parking fee corresponding to a count value obtained by the count operation; and calculate a temporary parking fee based on the count value at a detection time of an exit request of the target vehicle. When the count operation is terminated within a preset duration, the temporary parking fee is adopted as the parking fee corresponding to the count value.

RADIO TERMINAL, CENTER SERVER APPARATUS, AND METHOD THEREFOR

A radio terminal (1) determines that the radio terminal (1) is approaching a first station (5), receives from a center server (4) a cell identifier of a first cell corresponding to an entrance gate function (53) of the first station (5), and transmit a message containing the cell identifier to a cellular communication network. The message causes the network to add the first cell (54) as a secondary cell in dual connectivity for the radio terminal (1), enabling the radio terminal (1) to communicate with the entrance gate function (53) via a user plane path including a radio connection of the first cell (54). The radio terminal (1) then communicates with the entrance gate function (53) via the user plane path. This contributes, for example, to reducing latency required to transmit or receive user data in a narrow coverage cell when a radio terminal receives a signal from that cell.

Parking meter with contactless payment

A parking meter is described that comprises components for providing parking meter functionality and a display for displaying parking information and a metal housing for protecting the parking meter components from an environment that has a display aperture through which the display is visible. The parking meter also comprises an antenna for a contactless payment reader arranged in or on the parking meter in close proximity to the display.

Rental/car-share vehicle access and management system and method

An apparatus and operational method are disclosed that use control hardware resident in a vehicle to enable a remote computing system to wirelessly communicate with the vehicle. The control hardware includes a processor configured to interface with a wireless network and the vehicle through, respectively, a wireless network interface and a vehicle interface. A plurality of CAN (control area network) bus transceivers may exist within the vehicle interface operable to allow the processor to interface with multiple vehicle types. The processor may then be configured to automatically detect an identifier for the vehicle though the vehicle interface and automatically select a CAN bus transceiver from the plurality of CAN bus transceivers based on the detected identifier. The processor can then communicate with the vehicle's CAN bus via the selected CAN bus transceiver.

HIGH SPEED DETERMINATION OF INTERSECTION TRAVERSAL WITHOUT ROAD DATA
20230005361 · 2023-01-05 ·

Techniques for using vehicle telematics data for high speed determination of intersection traversals are provided. Telematics data from a vehicle trip may be obtained and compared to an area associated with an intersection to attempt to isolate telematics data points that are within the intersection. A simplified line generated based on the isolated telematics data points is then compared to vector lines representing entrances and exits of the intersection to attempt to identify an intersection entrance and exit from the vehicle trip. The simplified line is then compared to an average simplified line representing trips of other vehicles through the same entrance and exit of the same intersection to determine whether the vehicle turned through the intersection. If it is determined that the vehicle turned through the intersection, the telematics data associated with the vehicle trip may be compared to telematics data associated with other vehicle trips through the intersection.
