A method of preparing a wort with an increased level of free amino nitrogen (FAN) comprising: a) preparing a mash from a grist comprising malt and/or adjunct; and b) adding a protease having at least 80% sequence identity to the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 1.

METHOD FOR PREPARATION AND SCREENING OF FUNGAL MUTANT WITH HIGH HYDROLYTIC ACTIVITY AND CATABOLITE DEREPRESSED CHARACTER

The present invention relates to a mutant fungal strain of Penicillium funiculosum MRJ-16 characterized by the ability to produce high titer of enzyme mixture comprising FPase, CMCase, Cellobiase, -glucosidase, endoglucanase, -L arabinofuranosidase, -xylosidase, xylanase, pectinase, cellobiohydrase and oxidases and produce enzymes in the presence of a catabolite repressor molecule like glucose and/or xylose. The titer of enzyme mixture produced using mutant fungal strain MRJ-16 is at least two fold higher than naive Penicillium funiculosum strain NCIM 1228, when used in a fermentation process. The mutant strain MRJ-16 with high hydrolytic activity and catabolite derepressed character is having application in the method of degrading or saccharifying biomass to produce valuable products for example-bioethanol.

METHOD OF PREPARING CEREAL EXTRACT
20190367852 · 2019-12-05 ·

The invention relates to a method of preparing a wort from cereals, comprising the steps of: providing a grist comprising non-malted cereals; preparing a mixture by contacting the grist with water and with an alpha-amylase, a protease and a filtration aid enzyme, to yield a mash after incubation; incubating said mixture at 45-55 C. for a period of 10-30 minutes, at 60-70 C. for a period of 20-40 minutes and at 80-90 C. for a period of 5-15 minutes; filtering the mash to obtain a liquid wort; and collecting the wort.

PROPAGATION OF YEAST USING CELLULOSE AS A CARBON SOURCE
20190264246 · 2019-08-29 ·

Methods for propagation of yeast using cellulosic material as a carbon source are disclosed. A propagation medium is provided by combining a nutrient source, a cellulosic material to be used as a carbon source, enzymes that hydrolyze the cellulosic material into monosaccharides that can be taken up and metabolized by yeast, and a first cell mass of yeast. The propagation medium is incubated in a temperature range that allows the enzymes to break down the cellulosic material into monosaccharides at a rate that leads to production of a second cell mass of yeast, while keeping ethanol production low enough that the concentration of ethanol does not exceed 0.1 grams per liter of propagation medium.

CONVERSION OF SUGARS TO IONIC LIQUIDS

Disclosed herein are methods for preparing sugar compositions. The methods include: i) forming a mixture including polysaccharide biomass and an ionic liquid solution, wherein the ionic liquid solution contains water and an ionic liquid, and the ionic liquid contains a) a cation and b) a sugar acid anion or a ketoacid anion; ii) maintaining the mixture under conditions sufficient to dissolve at least a portion of the polysaccharide present in the polysaccharide biomass; iii) adding at least one glycoside hydrolase to the mixture; and iv) maintaining the mixture containing the glycoside hydrolase under conditions sufficient to hydrolyze at least a portion of the dissolved polysaccharide, thereby forming the sugar compositions. The sugar compositions contain at least one monosaccharide or oligosaccharide. New sugar-based ionic liquids are also described.

GLYCOSYL HYDROLASE ENZYMES AND USES THEREOF FOR BIOMASS HYDROLYSIS

The present invention relates to compositions that can be used in hydrolyzing biomass such as compositions comprising a polypeptide having glycosyl hydrolase (GH) family 61/endoglucanase activity and/or a -glucosidase polypeptide, methods for hydrolyzing biomass material, and methods for using such compositions.
