A coffee brewing device, such as a cold coffee brewing device and related methods are disclosed. The device includes a container, a supported horizontal plate that holds filter paper in place, and a spigot below the horizontal plate. Coffee grounds are placed on the filter, then water is added to the container such that minimal disturbance of the coffee ground bed occurs. When the spigot is opened, liquid is removed in a north/south (up/down) direction through the coffee ground bed. The coffee ground bed serves as a first filter, the filter serves as a second filter, and the chamber below the horizontal plate serves as a coalescing chamber where sediment drops out thus serving as a third filter. The resulting liquid dispensed from the spigot is amber in color and clear.

The disclosure presents a single cup coffee brewer comprised of a dripper component, a drip rate control component, and a plunger assembly. The dripper component has a cylindrical brewing container and a removable cylindrical tube that enables an appropriately sized standard basket filter to be inserted snugly in the cylindrical brewing container. The drip rate control component, attached to the dripper component, has a lever that controls the drip control rate of the dripper component from a zero drip rate to a maximum value. The coffee brewer may therefore be used similar to a cone dripper, but with a user controlling the drip rate, or as an infuser perhaps followed by a dripper. The plunger assembly converts the dripper component and the drip rate control component into an Espresso plunger by allowing the user to force brewing coffee through the basket filter into a cup. Various embodiments are presented.

A capsule containing tea material for use in the method is also provided, the capsule comprising a body part, which is a single, impermeable piece which defines a cavity with a volume of from 10 to 24 cm.sup.3.

The exterior of the tea infuser has a second isolation gap in a vacuum state to block the heat conduction from an inner segment to an outer segment of the tea infuser. The tea cup and the tea infuser are able to keep the tea warm. When the tea infuser is turned, the tea infuser will not scald the user's hand.
