A machine for preparing a beverage from an ingredient has: an extraction seat, an inlet arrangement for guiding water into the seat and a dispensing arrangement for guiding beverage out of the seat. The dispensing arrangement has a face, formed by a beverage guide structure for guiding a total flow of beverage out of a total guide exit, delimiting a downstream part of the seat. The guide structure is associated with a flow control device, having an obstruction portion and one or more control sides, configured to control the flow of beverage. The control sides suitable to delimit from the obstruction portion a passage that the total flow of beverage is passed through. The obstruction portion and the control side(s) are operable over the beverage guide structure to change a position, size and/or shape of the obstructed and unobstructed portion of the total guide entry and/or exit.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PREPARING A COFFEE DRINK

A method for preparing a coffee drink is provided in which, in a brewing process, a pre-specifiable total amount of brewing water is conducted through an amount of powdered coffee. In order to improve the tasting quality of freshly-brewed coffee drinks while, at least, increasing the uniformity of taste characteristics in successively prepared coffee drinks, a total through-flow time for the brewing process is or can be predefined in which the total amount of brewing water is conducted through an amount of powdered coffee.

The disclosure presents a single cup coffee brewer comprised of a dripper component, a drip rate control component, and a plunger assembly. The dripper component has a cylindrical brewing container and a removable cylindrical tube that enables an appropriately sized standard basket filter to be inserted snugly in the cylindrical brewing container. The drip rate control component, attached to the dripper component, has a lever that controls the drip control rate of the dripper component from a zero drip rate to a maximum value. The coffee brewer may therefore be used similar to a cone dripper, but with a user controlling the drip rate, or as an infuser perhaps followed by a dripper. The plunger assembly converts the dripper component and the drip rate control component into an Espresso plunger by allowing the user to force brewing coffee through the basket filter into a cup. Various embodiments are presented.

The brew basket further includes an outlet orifice for the brewed beverage defined by a downward extension of the brew basket. A cap engages the downward extension of the brew basket, with an opening defined through a bottom wall of the cap. A gasket is received in the cap, and a thickness of the gasket determines a position of the cap relative to the downward extension of the brew basket, and thus determines a flow rate of the brewed beverage from the outlet orifice through the opening defined through the bottom wall of the cap.

The apparatus container receives beverage ingredients in the interior space. The apparatus includes a plunger assembly coupled to a top end of the side wall, and includes a plunger handle and a plunger head. The plunger assembly moves the plunger head in the interior space based on forces applied to the plunger handle to brew the beverages.
