The system also includes an apparatus with a first brew chamber part and a second brew chamber part forming a brew chamber for selectively holding one of the capsules and a fluid dispensing device for supplying fluid under pressure to the first brew chamber part. The first brew chamber part has a cavity for selectively holding the first or second capsule. The first brew chamber part may include a first volume not occupied by the first exchangeable capsule when holding this capsule. The first brew chamber part may include a second volume not occupied by the second exchangeable capsule when holding this capsule. The invention further relates to a brew chamber assembly, an apparatus, a set of capsules, a method of preparing a beverage, a capsule, and several adapters.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREPARING A BEVERAGE FIELD AND BACKGROUND
A system and method for preparing a consumable beverage. The system comprises an apparatus including a first brew chamber part having a cavity for selectively holding an exchangeable first or second capsule. An exit area of the second capsule has a diameter that is larger than a diameter of an first exit area of the first capsule. The apparatus includes a second brew chamber part for closing the first brew chamber part around the first or second capsule. The second brew chamber part has an extraction plate for abutting against the first or second exit area. The extraction plate includes a central portion and a peripheral portion. The central portion is movable relative to the peripheral portion.
SYSTEM, APPARATUS, METHOD, CAPSULE AND KIT OF CAPSULES FOR PREPARING A BEVERAGE
A system for preparing a quantity of beverage, including first and second capsules, and an apparatus including a first and a second brew chamber part, wherein at least a portion of the second brew chamber part is movable into a first and a second brewing position, wherein the first brew chamber part is movable between a loading position and a brewing position, wherein the first brew chamber part in the brewing position together with the at least one portion of the second brew chamber part in the first brewing position and in the second position define respective closed positions in which the first exchangeable capsule and the second capsule fit in the brew chamber, respectively. The invention also relates to an apparatus, a method and a capsule.
CAPSULE, SYSTEM AND USE OF THE SYSTEM FOR PREPARING DOUBLE BEVERAGES LIKE A DOUBLE ESPRESSO, A DOUBLE LUNGO AND A DOUBLE RISTRETTO
A capsule, a system and a use of the system for preparing double beverages like a double espresso, a double lungo and a double ristretto are provided. With the capsule, system and use, a high quality double espresso, double lungo and double ristretto can be brewed in an on demand apparatus. The capsule has a shape and configuration which is easily acceptable for the average user whereas the brew which is obtainable with the capsule meets high quality standards. To that effect, the capsule has a frusto-conical capsule body with a radial flange at one end, a foil lid closing off the body and connected to the flange, and a coffee bed which is accommodated in the internal space bounded by the capsule body and the foil lid and which has a weight of 9-13 g and a (height)/(maximum width) ratio within the range of 0.9-1.2.
Coffee holder
A coffee holder includes a holder body and a holder lid. The holder body includes a holder base, a holder sidewall extending from the base and defining an interior configured to receive loose coffee, and an open receiving end opposite the base. The holder lid is configured to engage the holder body to cover the open receiving end. The holder lid includes a recessed portion that extends into the holder body interior when the holder lid engages the holder body, and a passage in the recessed portion configured to allow fluid to flow into the holder body interior from the recessed portion.
Infusion unit for making beverages with a hydraulic closing system
The infusion unit comprises a receptacle (25, 27) for receiving at least one ingredient in bulk form for the preparation of a beverage, as well as a brewing piston (33) arranged for insertion in the receptacle and forming a brewing chamber therewith. The brewing piston (33) is provided with a sealing arrangement (35) for sliding and sealing engagement with an inner wall of the receptacle when the brewing piston is in the receptacle. A hydraulic actuator (51) controls the movement of the brewing piston (33) so as to adjust the volume of the brewing chamber by moving the brewing piston in a brewing position inside the receptacle. A hot water delivery circuit (39) is further provided, for delivering hot water in the interior of the brewing chamber and performing a brewing cycle.
Modular brewing unit for a coffee machine
The invention relates to a modular brewing unit for a coffee machine, comprising a brewing part and a drive part, which are arranged parallel one beside the other in a common frame, wherein the brewing part, arranged concentrically along a common first axis, has an upper piston, a lower piston and, between the two pistons, a brewing cylinder with a cylindrical bore for accommodating the two pistons, a brewing chamber being formed in the process, and wherein the drive part comprises a spindle which extends along a drive axis, parallel to the first axis, is mounted in the frame such that it can be rotated about said drive axis and is in engagement with the brewing cylinder and the lower piston such that, during a brewing cycle, upon rotation of the spindle, the brewing cylinder and the lower piston are displaced along the first axis relative to the upper piston, which is fixed in the frame. Different brewing units are realized in a simplified manner in that the drive part can be combined with brewing parts of different designs in order to provide for different brewing conditions.
