The ground coffee bag includes at least one smaller bottom opening covered by a paper filter, and the bottom wall includes a centered larger opening located directly below the smaller opening. A first and a second seal strip are thermally bonded to openably close a top opening of the ground coffee bag to seal an amount of ground coffee therein. A user can dispose the coffee dripper on a cup and pour hot water into the ground coffee bag to make drip-brewed coffee, and the produced liquid coffee flows through the smaller and the larger opening down into the cup.

A coffee maker comprises a one-piece body having a top and a bottom, and a brew pod removably disposed within the one-piece body. The brew pod includes a grounds basket, one or more straws disposed under the grounds basket, and a snorkel removably disposed above the grounds basket. The body has locking channels that mate with locking tabs on the brew pod. The snorkel includes a spout, an engagement member disposed under the spout, and a top hat disposed above the spout. A gasket with means for retaining a filtering means may be disposed between the engagement member and the grounds basket. The coffee maker may include means for lifting the one-piece body away from a heat source used during the brewing process. Such a lifting arrangement may also have a lid with an extension means to extend the lid away from the one-piece body during the brewing process.

Beverage presses are provided that include a hollow cylinder and piston both formed of plastic, including a clear plastic. Alternatively, beverage presses are provided that include a cylinder formed of glass and a piston formed of metal, such as stainless steel or aluminum. The support and filter cap can also be formed of plastic or a metal, such as stainless steel or aluminum. A carafe specially shaped to correspond to the support can be used. Organizer holder stands that accommodate various beverage presses are also provided.

A filter-paper insert for making brewed beverages at least two layers of filter paper having a base and two opposite sides. The two layers are connected together at the base and at the two opposite sides to define an interior space that can be filled from a filling opening opposite the base. The filter paper includes a plurality of slots to increase permeability. The filter-paper insert has a lower region adjacent the base and an upper adjacent the filling opening. The lower region has fewer slots per surface area than the upper region.
