A dosing pump for dosing metered amounts of liquid product, includes an inlet adapted to be fluidly connected to a storage container, an output adapted to be connected to a beverage dispensing machine for receiving metered amounts of liquid product, and a dosing chamber arranged for transferring a liquid from the inlet to the output. The dosing chamber is at least partly filled with a liquid different from the liquid product. The different liquid can be a cleaning fluid, or be food compliant. The dosing pump can be included in an exchangeable supply pack filled with the liquid product for connecting to a beverage dispensing machine, and the output can be adapted to be brought into fluid connection with a beverage dispensing machine. When associated with a beverage dispensing machine, the dosing pump can be operated to allow the different fluid to be pumped through the beverage dispensing machine prior to a first dosing cycle of liquid product.

A ceramic valve unit for a beverage machine including a housing, a water inlet pipe for receiving hot water, an outflow opening, and first and second ceramic elements within the housing. The first and second ceramic elements each have mutually abutting surfaces and are relatively movable in a plane common to the abutting surfaces. The plane common to the abutting surfaces is downstream of the water inlet pipe and the first ceramic element, but upstream of the second ceramic element and the outflow opening. The first ceramic element has at least differently sized first and second openings for allowing a liquid flow there through. The second ceramic element has only a single liquid flow opening permanently aligned with the outflow opening. The first ceramic element is selectively slidable between at least first and second different positions preferably in a path of movement about a centre of rotation beyond the boundaries of the first ceramic element.

A dispenser platform for receiving a product container, having a casing, wholly or partially encasing a control panel coupled a control module and a product container receptacle having a product container coupling assembly. The product container coupling assembly includes a first product supply conduit configured to receive a barrel of a product container. A second product supply conduit couples to a reservoir or to a supply of a second product, such as water. The product container holds a first product, such as concentrated coffee, concentrated tea, concentrated flavored drink, flavored syrup (cola) or concentrated juice. Components of the dispenser platform include a pump assembly, a heating and/or cooling assembly responsively coupled to a control panel via a control module and a filter assembly. The product container can be a BOV container or an airless dispensing container.

A coffee processing apparatus (100, 200, 300) is disclosed that comprises at least one of a grinding stage (110) for grinding coffee beans (10) into ground coffee beans (20); and a brewing stage (140) for brewing coffee from ground coffee beans; the coffee processing apparatus further comprising a sensor (150) arranged to sense a total concentration of volatile organic compounds released by said coffee beans or ground coffee beans; and a controller (160) responsive to said sensor and arranged to control said grinding stage and/or said brewing stage as a function of said total concentration. Methods of controlling such a coffee processing apparatus are also disclosed.

A drinks preparation machine includes a preparation module for preparing a brewed drink from water and from an extraction material or extract and further includes a display device. The machine is configured to permit a user to make the setting of a first drinks quantity before a start of the drinks preparation, and after the start, during the drinks preparation, to permit the adjustment of a remaining drinks quantity, which is different from zero, via the operating element.

The method for extracting Dutch coffee controls an amount of extracted coffee by setting an opening time of a valve mounted between a water tank and a filtering container, controls a speed of extraction by setting one cycle length, and mechanically controls a total speed of extraction by setting a total time, and the Dutch coffee extraction apparatus includes: an upper main body frame; a lower main body frame which is formed on a lower portion of the upper main body frame and has a width shorter than that of the upper main body frame; a side frame which connects the upper main body frame and the lower main body frame with each other; a water tank which is disposed inside the upper main body frame and has a cover provided on an upper portion thereof to store water therein; a filtering container which is disposed at both sides of the lower main body frame, is connected with the water tank via a nozzle to receive water from the water tank, and stores ground coffee thereon; an extracted liquid storage container which is disposed under the filtering container to store an extracted liquid thereon; and a digital operation unit which is formed on one side of the side frame.
