Diagnostic devices with modifiable hydrophobic surfaces
A diagnostic device 10 for screening for a target analyte in a sample is provided. The diagnostic device 10 comprises a substrate 12 and a hydrophobic material 20 disposed on the substrate. The hydrophobic material 20 is selected to be converted from the hydrophobic material 20 to a hydrophilic material 22 upon contact with a conversion component within or derived from a sample introduced to the device 10.
Use of multi-arm polyethylene glycol modifier and application of multi-arm polyethylene glycol modifier in L-asparaginasum modification
Methods for use of a multi-arm polyethylene glycol (PEG) modifier in modification of asparaginase. The described multi-arm PEG modifier enhances the subunit interaction of a multimeric protein to maintain the multimeric protein in a polymerized form, thereby improving the stability of the multimeric protein, maintaining the bioactivity of the multimeric protein, and reducing the probability of exposure of the antigen binding site after depolymerization of the subunits, so as to reduce the immunogenicity.
Mineral precipitation methods
The present invention provides methods for mineral precipitation of porous particulate starting materials using isolated urease.
Stable storage of enzymes
The present invention relates to methods and compositions that are useful for improving the stability of an enzyme, for instance during storage. Using the methods and compositions of the invention, enzyme activity is preserved over time, allowing longer storage.
Biocementation systems and methods
The present disclosure provides a method of biocementation comprising contacting a granular, cohesionless soil with a solution, wherein the solution comprises urea, urease, a source of calcium ions, and a source of non-urease proteins, wherein the urea, urease, source of calcium ions, and source of non-urease proteins are provided in effective amounts suitable to cause crystallization of calcium carbonate.
Antibody-urease conjugates
This disclosure provides antibody-urease conjugates having therapeutic and diagnostic utility. More specifically, the disclosure relates to diagnostic and/or therapeutic conjugates that are prepared by conjugating one or more whole antibodies to urease.
CURE-ON-DEMAND AND TIME-LAPSE POLYMERIZATION
The present invention provides compositions, methods and kits for the temporal control induction time for a polymerization reaction.
Biocementation Methods and Systems
The invention is directed to kits, compositions, tools and methods comprising a cyclic industrial process to form biocement. In particular, the invention is directed to materials and methods for decomposing calcium carbonate into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide at an elevated temperature, reacting calcium oxide with ammonium chloride to form calcium chloride, water, and ammonia gas; and reacting ammonia gas and carbon dioxide at high pressure to form urea and water, which are then utilized to form biocement. This cyclic process can be achieved by combining industrial processes with the resulting product as biocement. The process may involve retention of calcium carbonate currently utilized in the manufacture of Portland Cement.
Method for simultaneously reducing urethane and its precursors levels during Chinese liquor production process
The present invention a method for simultaneously reducing urethane and its precursors levels during Chinese liquor production process, which relates to the field of fermented food production. The present invention is carried out through inoculating Bacillus amyloliquefaciens JP21 or combines with urease into the grains for fermentation. The content of EC and urea in the fermented grains after 5-day fermentation could reduce 30.16% and 50.05% respectively, With an addition of the B. amyloliquefaciens during grains fermentation, EC and urea levels are successfully controlled, and at the same time aroma and tastes of Chinese liquor hasn't been affected.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF DUST CONTROL
Compositions and methods for producing materials for construction and for dust control utilizing enzyme producing cells, an amount of a nitrogen source such as urea, and an amount of calcium such as calcium chloride. Calcium contributes to the formation of calcium carbonate which creates a solid structure, layer or shield. One or more compositions containing components of the invention can be sprayed or otherwise applied to surfaces for erosion control, foundation support, prevention of sink hole formation, prevention of dust formation, or other applications. Ammonia, water and other by-products of the process can be recycled and reutilized for the same or other purposes including, for example, as fertilizers and energy sources, or independently fermented from selectively cultivated microorganisms.
