LITHIUM RECOVERY FROM BRNIE
Provided herein are processes for recovering lithium ions from a brine source. The process can comprises increasing the pH of a brine source comprising lithium ions to at least about 5.5; contacting the pH-elevated brine source with a bed of protonated ion exchange media to produce a lithiated ion exchange media and a lithium-depleted brine stream; contacting the lithiated ion exchange media with an acidic aqueous wash liquid; and contacting the washed lithiated ion exchange media with an elution liquid comprising an acid. Also provided herein is a process for increasing the pH of brine comprising obtaining brine from a brine source comprising lithium ions; adding the brine to a continuously stirred tank reactor without preprocessing the brine to remove solid matter; adding a strong base to the continuously stirred tank reactor; contacting the brine with the base. Further provided herein are processes for creating a lithiated ion exchange media, which can comprise contacting a pH-elevated brine source with a bed of protonated ion exchange media; and producing a lithiated ion exchange media and a spent brine, wherein the bed of protonated ion exchange media comprises a metal oxide absorbent and a polymeric binder.

METHOD FOR TREATING ALLOY
The present invention is a method for treating an alloy, by which a solution that contains nickel and/or cobalt is obtained from an alloy that contains copper, zinc, and nickel and/or cobalt, said method comprising: a leaching process wherein a leachate is obtained by subjecting the alloy to a leaching treatment by means of an acid in the coexistence of a sulfurizing agent; a reduction process wherein the leachate is subjected to a reduction treatment with use of a reducing agent; and an ion exchanging process wherein a solution that contains nickel and/or cobalt is obtained by bringing a solution, which has been obtained in the reduction process, into contact with an amino phosphoric acid-based chelate resin, thereby having zinc adsorbed on the amino phosphoric acid-based chelate resin.
METHOD FOR REMOVING CADMIUM IN THE MANUFACTURE OF PHOSPHORIC ACID
Methods for removing cadmium (Cd) from a phosphoric acid solution produced in a wet process for manufacturing phosphoric acid, comprising treating the wet-process phosphoric acid solution with a small amount of a solid adsorbing material and a complex reagent to form a cadmium complex-contaminated solid adsorbing material, and removing the contaminated solid adsorbing material to yield a treated phosphoric acid solution having a low Cd content.
System and method embodiments for element extraction and separation
The present disclosure provides system and method embodiments for extracting and separating rare earth elements (REEs) from various starting materials and sources. The system and method embodiments disclosed herein facilitate efficient REE extraction, separation, and/or isolation, even when the REEs are present in a starting material at a relatively low level compared to undesirable metals co-present in the starting material. In at least some examples, the disclosed system and method embodiments may be used to recover one or more REEs from coal derived acid mine drainage.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RECOVERING METAL
The present application provides a method for recovering metal from metal-containing material by leaching, the method comprising providing aqueous solution containing leaching agent precursor, providing one or more source(s) of external energy comprising a source of electric current connected to one or more non-metallic electrode(s) comprising carbon material(s) selected from graphite, graphene and derivatives thereof, and carbon nanomaterial(s) selected from carbon nanofibers, carbon nanotubes and carbon nanobuds, treating the aqueous solution with the external energy, which is electric current providing electrochemical reactions, to form hydrogen peroxide from oxygen in the aqueous solution, reacting the leaching agent precursor with the formed hydrogen peroxide to form a leaching agent and to obtain a leaching solution, providing metal-containing material, reacting the metal-containing material with the leaching solution to obtain soluble metal complexes, and recovering the soluble metal complexes. The present application also discloses a device for recovering metal from metal-containing material by leaching.
SULPHIDE OXIDATION IN LEACHING OF MINERALS
A process for treating minerals containing metal sulphide and a precious metal, the process comprising fine grinding the minerals and subjecting the minerals to a first leaching step conducted under oxidising conditions at a pH of from 5 to 7, and subjecting a pulp or suspension or solid residue from the first leaching step to a second leaching step conducted under oxidising conditions at a pH of at least 9.0.
