A process for producing silicon nano-particles from a raw silicon material, the process including steps of alloying the raw silicon material with at least one alloying metal to form an alloy; thereafter, processing the alloy to form alloy nano-particles; and thereafter, distilling the alloying metal from the alloy nano-particles whereby silicon nano-particles are produced.
Copper-containing, high-toughness and rapidly degradable magnesium alloy, preparation method therefor and use thereof
Provided are a copper-containing, high-toughness and rapidly degradable magnesium alloy, a preparation method therefor and the use thereof, wherein same relate to the field of materials for oil and gas exploitation. When the magnesium alloy is in an as-cast state, an extrusion state or an aging state, a strengthening phase thereof mainly includes an Mg.sub.12CuRE-type long-period phase and an Mg.sub.5RE phase and an Mg.sub.2Cu phase, the Mg.sub.12CuRE-type long-period phase has a volume fraction of 3-60%, the Mg.sub.5RE phase has a volume fraction of 0.5-20%, and the Mg.sub.2Cu phase has a volume fraction of 0.5-15%, wherein RE is a rare-earth metal element.
METHODS OF FORMING LITHIUM-SILICON ALLOYS FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL CELLS
Method for forming prelithiated electroactive materials are provided. Methods include preparing a precursor that includes lithium and silicon and centrifugally distributing the precursor using a centrifugal atomizing reactor. Methods for preparing the precursor include contacting a first mixture including lithium and having a first temperature and a second mixture including silicon and having a second temperature in a mixing chamber to form a precursor. The first mixture and the second mixture each enters the mixing chamber at a pressure greater than or equal to about 10 PSI. The second temperature is greater than the first temperature. The method may further include centrifugally distributing the precursor by contacting the precursor with a rotating surface in a centrifugal atomizing reactor and solidifying the precursor to form a plurality of substantially round solid electroactive particles including lithium and silicon and having D50 diameters of less than or equal to about 30 micrometers.

This application relates to a method of preparing a composite material for an electric wiring connector. In one embodiment, the method includes preparing a powder mixture including (i) a metal powder composed of aluminum or aluminum alloy particles and magnesium particles and (ii) a polymer powder. The method may also include sintering the powder mixture to produce a composite material for the electric wiring connector using a spark plasma sintering (SPS) process. This application also relates to a composite material for an electric wiring connector prepared through the method described above. This application further relates to a method of manufacturing an electric wiring connector, the method including forming a housing of the electric wiring connector with the composite material. This application further relates to an electric wiring connector manufactured by the method.
Raw material for thixomolding, method for producing raw material for thixomolding, and molded body
A raw material for thixomolding includes a magnesium-based alloy powder which contains calcium in an amount of 0.2 mass % or more and 5 mass % or less and aluminum in an amount of 2.5 mass % or more and 12 mass % or less, wherein the magnesium-based alloy powder includes an oxide layer which has an average thickness of 30 nm or more and 100 nm or less and contains at least one of calcium and aluminum as an outermost layer. The average dendrite secondary arm spacing of crystal structures of the magnesium-based alloy powder is preferably 5 μm or less.
Method for Forming Hollow Profile Non-Circular Extrusions Using Shear Assisted Processing and Extrusion (ShAPE)
A process for forming extruded products using a device having a scroll face configured to apply a rotational shearing force and an axial extrusion force to the same preselected location on material wherein a combination of the rotational shearing force and the axial extrusion force upon the same location cause a portion of the material to plasticize, flow and recombine in desired configurations. This process provides for a significant number of advantages and industrial applications, including but not limited to extruding tubes used for vehicle components with 50 to 100 percent greater ductility and energy absorption over conventional extrusion technologies, while dramatically reducing manufacturing costs.
THERMOELECTRIC CONVERSION MATERIAL AND THERMOELECTRIC CONVERSION DEVICE USING SAME
A thermoelectric conversion material is a polycrystalline material composed of a plurality of crystal grains and has a composition represented by formula (I): Mg.sub.3+mSb.sub.aBi.sub.2−a−cA.sub.c. In the formula (I), A is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Se and Te, the value of m is greater than or equal to 0.01 and less than or equal to 0.5, the value of a is greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to 1.0, and the value of c is greater than or equal to 0.001 and less than or equal to 0.06. The thermoelectric conversion material has an Mg-rich region.

A composite member includes a substrate composed of a composite material containing a metal and a non-metal. One surface of the substrate has spherical warpage of which radius of curvature R is not smaller than 5000 mm and not greater than 35000 mm. A sphericity error is not greater than 10.0 μm, the sphericity error being defined as an average distance between a plurality of measurement points on a contour of a warped portion of the substrate and approximate arcs defined by the plurality of measurement points. The substrate has a thermal conductivity not lower than 150 W/m.Math.K and a coefficient of linear expansion not greater than 10 ppm/K.
